I continue to visit museums in the nation's capital to learn and absorb the artistic expressions of contemporary artists who are currently expressing themselves with such passion and commitment. This week, I was able to experience the work of visual artist Ernesto León, who is presenting an exhibition of his art at the National Art Gallery entitled "BODILY."
Sigo realizando mis visitas a los museos de la capital del país para aprender y nutrirme de las expresiones artísticas de los creadores contemporáneos que están actualmente expresándose con tanta pasión y compromiso; esta semana pude conocer la obra del artista plástico Ernesto León que está presentando una muestra de su arte en la Galería de Arte Nacional titulada "CORPORALES".
On this occasion, the artist presents a series of paintings that could be defined as "corporal" because in this case, he uses his feet to convey a message open to multiple references regarding the contemporary human condition. Drawing, painting, sculpture, audiovisual media, and everything that allows him to communicate his thoughts have been the tools Ernesto León uses in his journey through the arts.
En esta ocasión el artista presenta una serie de pinturas que podríamos definir como "corporales" porque en este caso utiliza sus pies para dejar un mensaje abierto a múltiples referencias sobre la condición humana contemporánea. El dibujo, la pintura, la escultura, los medios audiovisuales y todo lo que permita comunicar el pensamiento, han sido las herramientas utilizadas por Ernesto León en su transitar por las artes.
As a communicator, some perceive Ernesto as a media activist, as he was involved in community affairs, independent media, and non-commercial radio; but his artistic journey leads us to reflect, through his images, on nature, human beings, and the fragility that accompanies us.
Como comunicador, algunos perciben a Ernesto como un activista de medios, ya que estuvo involucrado en asuntos comunitarios, medios independientes y radio no comercial; pero su recorrido artístico nos conduce a reflexionar con sus imágenes sobre la naturaleza, el ser humano y la fragilidad que nos acompaña.
The themes he explores in his work include cultural resistance, anti-globalization, anti-imperialism, the fight against war, as well as environmental concerns and racial discrimination. The power of the media in the hands of the people is the central theme of his creative work; therefore, his imagery must be appreciated through a lens of profound humanistic reflection.
Los temas que trabaja en su obra son la resistencia cultural, la antiglobalización, el antiimperialismo, la lucha contra la guerra, así como las preocupaciones ambientales y la discriminación racial. El poder de los medios en manos de la gente es el tema principal del su trabajo creativo; de allí que la producción de sus imágenes debemos apreciarlas desde una óptica de profunda reflexión humanística.
Truly, appreciating each of these pieces leaves me deeply reflecting on where humanity is headed and allows me to determine my role as an individual in generating change in the future of society. I loved drawing on this reflective experience to form a solid foundation for my artistic work. I hope you enjoy this post. Good vibes.
De verdad que apreciar cada una de estas piezas me dejan en una profunda reflexión sobre hacia donde se está conduciendo la humanidad y permitirme determinar mi rol como individuo para generar un cambio en el futuro de la sociedad; me encanto nutrirme de esta experiencia reflexiva para formar bases sólidas en mi obra artística.
