I've never been on holiday to a colder destination than my own home and had to pay for the privilege, but I was so glad that I did.
Chamonix itself was beautiful, it's at the base of the highest mountain in the Alps Mont Blanc. Our accommodation was a beautiful old wooden Chalet, which was run by an excellent team was a short tram ride into town and overlooked Mont Blanc.
The route to Chamonix itself was free from our accommodation, and other views were wonderful. Filled with Chalet Homes and what felt like a lovely community despite its size and the transient nature of the tourists and the working community.
Below are some photos of Manc Blanc, our lovely accommodation, breakfast and a morning cuppa overlooking the mountains.

Chamonix itself is a bustling town with lots of shops, food venues, restaurants and markets, high-end retailers and of course bars.
I treated myself to some local cheese from a proper cheesemonger, also known as a la fromagerie in French. It was lovely bringing a taste of Chamonix home.
There was an excellent choice of restaurants from all around the world I spotted Sushi, Indian, British, Italian, to name a few.
There was of course, the le patissier which smelled divine as you attempt to walk past, the smell carries you in a trance-like state through the door!
On the last day of our trip, we took a trip up the Brevant, which is another mountain nearby where you can get 2 gondolas aka Chair Lift to two the start of the ski routes and a secondary gondola up to 3000ft up where there is a restaurant with Panoramic views of the breathtaking mountain scape.
The food was a delight on the palate. I had the vegetable soup with croutons and cheese; my friends ordered a cheesy leek gratin with oozing cheese, which was heavenly.
For a holiday, I was hesitant to take it at first. I was pleased that I spent the money and had an experience I'd never had before. I would love to return when the snow melts, and you can walk among the lush green hills would be dreamy almost.
