Endless turns, bends, and sweeping corners are exactly the type of road I enjoy driving on, surrounded by lush, deep greenery. This section of the road trip, travelling through Europe, was an absolute delight.

We had made it to Bouillon the day before and were keen to move on from Belgium, not that there was anything wrong or that we weren't enjoying ourselves, rather more that we just felt it was time to go deeper into Europe.

We knew we were headed to Luxembourg; however, the route was yet to be determined. There was the main road via Luxembourg South or a 2-hour detour through the countryside. Easy Decision. I picked the route from a motorbike forum, which said this route had excellent scenery and driving roads.

We drove south from Dinant to Givet, then further on down to Revin, gawking as we drove through the endless forests which seemed to go on forever. I have seen plenty of forests in Wales & Scotland, but this was something else. It was huge!

My partner exclaimed how good the road and scenery were on the way to Revin, and I said we have much more to go yet, the proper bendy roads are coming up.

From Revin, we drove further south, where we climbed higher into the hills with stunning views before turning off at Les Mazures - The highest point in the Ardennes. This is the highest point of the ho, where the road led us to Monthermé. Here we took a break to find a GeoCache and a dog walk up to the View Points you can see in the photos.

The bend in the River Semios at Monthermé is one of the best examples in France, according to some post-visit research. From here, you can really see how deep the forest goes.

I wish I had more photos of the roads and scenery; however, I was driving and my phone was being used for navigation. My partner's phone camera is not the best either, and to be honest, I think he was too busy staring to remember to take the photos.

From Monthermé, we continued on the undulating road until we turned off for Boullion. We were going to camp over near Thilay; however, it was already coming up to 4 pm, and I didn't want to pay for camping and not utilise the full potential if we had to leave in the morning.

The Ardennes are a mountain range which spans 3 countries: France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, and to be honest, I am ashamed to say that before the trip, I wasn't even aware this range existed.

I was aware of the Alps spanning France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria, which we plan to go to on this trip, but that's the beauty of not knowing 100% where you're going, because sometimes you discover somewhere as beautiful as this.
