The Saddle is a ridge between two high points of Rocky Knob Mountain in Patrick County, Virginia. It is part of the Blue Ridge Crest line with extensive views of the Blue Ridge. You can find it at Milepost 168 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Elevation here is 3,381 ft. That's the lowlands of the Piedmont you see below. We love this spot a few miles from our home and come here with guests for picnics. It's great because it has views of both sides of the ridge. It's also the starting point for a short hike up to the Rocky Knob Overlook and shelter. Rock Castle Gorge trail also starts here.
