Barbosa, conocido como “La puerta de oro del nordeste antioqueño”, es un municipio rodeado de montañas, ríos y un clima templado que suele ser fresco por las mañanas y cálido durante el día. Sus paisajes combinan el verde intenso de los bosques con el aire puro que baja de la montaña, lo que lo convierte en un destino ideal para caminatas ecológicas y de conexión con la naturaleza.
Nuestra travesía comenzó muy temprano, saliendo desde Caldas con rumbo a Barbosa. Desde allí tomamos un bus hasta la estación La Estrella, luego seguimos en metro hasta Niquía, donde abordamos un transporte integrado que nos llevó directamente a Barbosa, punto de encuentro para iniciar la caminata.
Al llegar, nos reunimos con el grupo, realizamos una breve sesión de calentamiento y emprendimos el ascenso por la vereda Buga, famosa por sus caminos empedrados ancestrales que atraviesan paisajes naturales y rurales llenos de historia. Este sendero, rodeado de vegetación espesa, flores silvestres y neblina, parece llevarte en el tiempo, recordando las antiguas rutas usadas por los campesinos y arrieros de la región.
Durante el recorrido hicimos varias paradas para descansar y tomar café, compartiendo momentos de alegría y contemplación. Las vistas son espectaculares: montañas infinitas, el sonido del agua y el verde que se extiende en todas direcciones. Aunque la subida es exigente, la naturaleza recompensa con su belleza y energía.
Finalmente llegamos a la cascada de Buga, un lugar mágico donde algunos aprovecharon para bañarse en sus aguas frías y cristalinas. Después continuamos el camino hacia el mirador, disfrutando de más senderos empedrados y del aire puro de la montaña.
Al terminar la jornada, descendimos nuevamente hasta Barbosa, donde tomamos el integrado hacia la estación Niquía, continuamos en metro y finalmente otro transporte hasta Caldas, cerrando así una experiencia inolvidable llena de naturaleza, historia y paisajes que reconfortan el alma.

Barbosa, known as “The Golden Gate of the Northeastern Antioquia,” is a town surrounded by mountains, rivers, and a mild climate that feels fresh in the mornings and warm throughout the day. Its landscapes blend the deep green of the forests with the pure mountain air, making it an ideal destination for ecological hikes and reconnecting with nature.
Our journey began very early, departing from Caldas toward Barbosa. From there, we took a bus to La Estrella station, then continued by metro to Niquía, where we boarded an integrated transport that took us directly to Barbosa — the meeting point to begin our hike.
Upon arrival, we gathered with the group, did a short warm-up session, and began the ascent through the village of Buga, famous for its ancient cobblestone paths that cross natural and rural landscapes full of history. This trail, surrounded by dense vegetation, wildflowers, and mist, feels like a journey through time, evoking the old routes once used by local farmers and mule drivers of the region.
During the hike, we made several stops to rest and enjoy coffee, sharing moments of joy and contemplation. The views are spectacular — endless mountains, the sound of running water, and greenery stretching in every direction. Though the climb is demanding, nature rewards every step with its beauty and energy.
We finally reached the Buga Waterfall, a magical place where some took the chance to bathe in its cold, crystal-clear waters. Afterward, we continued toward the viewpoint, enjoying more cobblestone trails and the pure mountain air.
At the end of the day, we descended back to Barbosa, where we took the integrated transport to Niquía station, continued by metro, and finally another ride to Caldas — closing an unforgettable experience filled with nature, history, and landscapes that truly soothe the soul.
