Noble Words : A teacher is supposed to be a torch-bearer, but not anymore more !

These days going to school is just a formality. I have been experiencing this lately. The teacher and staff are not there to help the students. But they were more focus into completing the syllabus. There are few instances when they're in hurry to get away with student queries. Gone are the days, when the teacher happens to be torch bearer in students life. The change in education has something to do with online training classes as well as the change outlook of our education system. They have moulded into a money making business model. Sanskrit already explained the current situation through the following lines.

गुरवो बहवः सन्ति शिष्यवित्तापहारकाः |
दुर्लभः स गुरुर्लोके शिष्य चिन्तापाहारकः ||

Guravo bahavah santi shishyavittaapahaarakah. Durlabhh sa gururloke shishyachittapakahaarakaah.

Guravo = Teachers
Vahavah = many, lots of. Santi = exist, there are.
Shishyavittaapahaarakaah = Shishya + vitta + apahaarakaah.
shishya = pupil. Vitta = money, wealth.
Apahaarakaah = stealers. Durlabhah = rare, difficult to be found.
Sa = that. Gururloke = Guruh + loke.
Guruh = a teacher. Loke = in ordinary life,
Shishyachittaapahaarakaah = Shishya + chintaa + apahaarakaah.
Chintaa = Worries, ignorance.
Apaharakah = remover.

i.e. There are plenty of such gurus available in the society who are very clever in defrauding their disciples of money, but such a guru is rare (obtained with great difficulty) who destroys the worries and ignorance of his disciple.

They do this by illuminating the path to understanding one's true self and the ultimate reality through spiritual, psychological, and practical insight. Teachers are called "torch bearers" because they illuminate the path forward for their students by spreading knowledge, wisdom, and values, guiding them through challenges and into a brighter future. But in modern times, everyone is looking to exploit their disciple.

A good teachers share vast amounts of knowledge, not just facts, but also the ability to think critically and solve problems, making complex subjects understandable and sparking curiosity in students.

Goswami Tulsidas has also said in the Ramayana that ; "The disciple who takes away his wealth but does not take away his sorrow, that guru will go to hell."

This statement is absolutely correct in the present context.

Learning is Passion!!
