Desire is a fundamental motivator that drives people to take action, set goals, and work toward them. We have seen peoole keep desiring many things in life and in process never settle. From earning money to fame to power. Life becomes a struggling ground. There comes a time in life when desire get toxic and when people realize their they follow the path of spirituality. To highlight the importance of surrending to the Supreme lord, Sanskrit says ;
कृतान्तस्य दूती जरा कर्णमूलं, समागत्य वक्तीति लोकाः श्रुणुध्वम् |
परस्त्रीपरदृव्यवांञ्च्छां त्यजध्वं, भजध्वं रमानाथपादाSरविन्दम् ||
Krutaantasya dootee jaraa karnamoolam Samaagatya vakteeti lokaah shrunudhvam/ Parastreeparadruvya vaamchaam tyajadhvam Bhajadhvam ramaanaathapaadaaravindam.
Krutantasya = Death's (death personifie)
Dootee = messenger.
Jaraa = old age.
Karnamoolam = root of the ear.
Samaagatya = arriving, joining.
Vakteeti = says this.
Lokaah = O people !
Shrunudhvam = listen.
Parastreeparadruvya = para + stree + para + druvya.
Para = other persons'
Stree= wife.
Druvya = money, wealth.
Vaamchaam = desire to possess of acquire.
Tyajahvam = renounce.
Bhajadhvam = worship, pray.
Ramaanaath = God Vishnu, the consort of Goddess Rama.
Paadarvindam = feet soft and coloured like lotus flower.
i.e. Hey ignorant people! Old age has come as the messenger of death and is whispering in your ears that listen to this warning of mine. And giving up the evil desire of taking control of other's women and wealth, spend the rest of your life in the shelter of the lotus feet of Lord Vishnu, the husband of Mahadevi Lakshmi, and worship him.
Surrendering to Lord Vishnu is believed to be good because it brings peace, protection, and spiritual liberation by relinquishing worries and fears to a divine guide. This act of giving over control allows one to find inner peace, receive guidance, and fulfill both spiritual and material desires by accepting God's will as the ultimate reality. It's seen as a path to acceptance, humility, and a deeper connection to the divine.
