A person earns respect in the society through hard work, social work and through their behaviors. It is important for the person to maintain their dignity and do not get offended on various situation. Anger is one of the major causes that may destroy a person whole earned respect. Anger often escalates the situation and can have negative personal and social consequences. Our society often views a respected person, as leaders, community contributors, or masters of their field due to their tangible achievements and positive impact. To make a concious effort to maintain the respect, Sanskrit says ;

अवमानेन महतां प्रहर्ष क्रोधविस्मयैः |
तपांसि क्षयमायान्ति यशांसीव सुदुर्नयैः ||

Avamaanena mahataam praharsha krodhavismayah. Tapaamsi kshayamaayaanti yashaamseeva sudurnayaih.

Avamaanena = due to insult or disrespect.
Mahataam = honourable and eminent persons.
Praharsha = delight. Krodha = anger.
Vismayaih = surprise, amazement. Tapaamsi = benefits of religious austerity.
Kshayamaayaani = kshayam + aayanti.
Kshayam = decay, erosion. Aayaanti = to cause.
Yashaamseeva = yashaam + si + iva Yashaam = fame.
Si = are.
Iva = like, as (for comparison) Durnayaih = bad or imprudent conduct.

i.e. If disrespect of respectable and honourable people arouses anger and surprise in them, then as a result, the reputation earned by them through religious conduct gradually gets destroyed in the same manner, just as a person's reputation is destroyed due to wrong conduct.

A respected person is seen as someone who is reliable, competent, and morally upright, often possessing qualities like integrity, kindness, and a strong work ethic. They earn respect through their actions and how they treat others. We should not react to disrespect with anger because remaining calm helps us maintain control, protect our well-being, de-escalate the conflict, and respond more effectively. Anger does not goes well with well respected individual of the society.
