There are two kind of money keeper. First are "Donors" who are individuals who give money or resources to a cause, often for philanthropic reasons. Likes of Bill gates and Ratan Tatat are few examples. The second type are the "Hoarders" who are the individuals who keep accumulate and store large amounts of money. Rather than spending or investing it, these types of person keeps the money for future uses. Citing the examples of water, Sanskrit highlighted the adverse consequences of hoarders in following lines ;
गौरवं प्राप्यते दानात् न तु वित्तस्य सञ्चयात् |
स्थितिरुच्चैः पयोदानां पयोधिनामधः स्थितः ||
Gauravam praapyate daanaat na tu vittasya sanchayaat . Sthitirucchaih paayodaanaam payodhinaamadh sthitah.
Gauravam = dignity, admiration.
Praapyate = achieved.
Daanaat = by giving away as charity.
Na = not,
Tu = but.
Vittasya = wealth's
Sanchayaat = hoarding. accumulating.
Sthitirucchaih = sthitih + ucchaih.
Sthitih = rank, position.
Ucchaih = high, elevated.
Payodaanaam = rain clouds.
Payodhinaamadhh = payodhinaam + adhh,
Adhh = below.
Sthitah = situated , ranked.
Payodhi = Ocean
i.e. A rich person gets respect and appreciation in the society only by donating his wealth for a good cause and not by merely accumulating it. For example, a cloud full of water is considered to have a higher status because it distributes its water on the earth, whereas the ocean is considered to have a lower status because it is only a collector of water.
The ocean water remain stagnant while rain water benefit everyone. Wealth when accumulated can become a mere "cash stash" rather than a tool for a good life. Focusing solely on accumulating wealth without a clear goal can lead to a life spent working to make money without actually enjoying it or achieving life goals.
Apart from unused resources, accumulating money can be detrimental because an obsessive focus on wealth can lead to a poor work-life balance, damaging personal relationships and mental well-being. On the other side a donor alwsy live their life and try to uplift society through there generous acts of donation.
