There was a time, when people used to discriminate each other. Discrimination is all about treating individuals unfairly or less favorably based on prejudice or stereotypes about their membership in a particular group, such as their race, gender, age, disability, religion, or sexual orientation. But in modern world, people used to discriminate each other on the basis of money and wealth. These used to be a highly discriminating factor prevalent in todays society. To highlight the given scenario, Sanskrit have following to say ;
अर्थवानेव लोकेSस्मिन्पूज्यते मित्रबान्धवैः|
अर्थहीनोस्तु पुरुषो जीवन्नपि मृतोपमः||
Arthavaaneva lokesminpoojyate mitrabaandhavaih. Arthheenostu purusho jeevannapi mrutopamah.
Arthavaaneva = arthavaan + iva.
Arthavaan = rich persons
Lokesminpoojyate = Loke + asmit + poojyate.
Loke = in society.
Asmin = in this.
Poojyate, venerated , revered.
Mitra = friends.
Baandhavsaih = relatives.
Arthaheenostu = arthaheenoh + tu.
Arthaheenoh = poor, without any wealth.
Tu = but, and.
Jeevannapi = jeevan + api.
Jeevan = living.
Api = even.
Mrutopamah = mruta + upamah.
Mruta = dead.
Upamah = like a, similar to a.
i.e. In society, only the rich people are respected by their friends and relatives. On the contrary, if a person is penniless, then his condition becomes like that of a dead person while he is still alive.
Our society has now divided into two groups. The influential people always get a preferential treatment, while a common individual have to suffer. We have seen many instances, like entering in temple sanctum or any event. Wealthy people always get more attention. This has been a bitter truth, where a common man suffer at the hand of society. Just because of the discrimination.
A person with more money are worshipped and treated with high respect, whereas, a person with less money and wealth are ignored. Society needs to take this discrimination into account and try to bring parity.
