I am always fascinated by old architecture. They always have a story. They can witness a lot by just standing there through time. One of the oldest forms of architecture you will find here in the Philippines is churches.

The Spaniards colonized the Philippines for more than 300 years, beginning around 1500. As a result, a large proportion of our population is Catholic, and most of the old churches that are still standing and have been preserved retain their historical beauty.

One of them is the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

If you live in or have visited Cebu City, you have most likely seen this church, which is located near the famous Sto. Parish of Nino.

I decided to photograph it with an iPhone 11 and then use Lightroom Mobile to convert it to black and white as my entry for the #monomad challenge.

For me, photographing it in black and white shows not only its beauty, but also the peace it provides. You can see right through it.

This was taken in the city's buzzing heart, with cars beeping and people walking at the peak of the sun.

However, when I edit the image to black and white, everything becomes muffled and all that can be seen is silence, revealing its true beauty.
