- This is my entry for this wonderful contest, which is perfect now that we are in autumn and some plants are shedding their beautiful leaves and petals, preparing for winter and rebirth in spring. As it is already autumn in my country, it was easy to photograph some leaves in the area where I live and identify the species with the help of the internet.

- Esta es mi participación en este maravilloso concurso perfecto ahora que nos encontramos en otoño y algunas plantas están dejando atrás sus hermosas hojas, pétalos, preparándose para invierno y renacer en primavera. Como en mi país ya estamos en otoño, fue fácil en fotografiar algunas hojas en el entorno donde vivo y con ayuda de internet identificar las especies.
- First, I want to share the type of environment where I found these plants. We are located near the Lisbon River, where we have a mixture of beach plants and, in the urban area, many parks where different species of plants are planted. When I explored the beach area, I did not find any plants with changing leaves. So, out of simple curiosity, I did some research and discovered that it is normal for some plants not to undergo changes because a large number of species adapt to climate changes. They are called leaf perenne

- Primero quiero compartir en el tipo de entorno donde encontré estas plantas. Nos encontramos cerca del Río de Lisboa, donde tenemos una mezcla de plantas playeras y en la zona urbana muchos parques donde están plantados diferentes especies de plantas. Cuando exploré la zona de la playa, no encontré ninguna planta con cambio de hojas. Así que por simple curiosidad investigué y descubrí que es normal que algunas no sufran cambios porque una gran parte de especies se adaptan a los cambios de climas, son llamadas como hoja perenne
- Quercus suber Our first plant is an evergreen cork tree. This tree does not shed its leaves in autumn because it is resistant to climatic changes. It originates from Europe and North Africa. As its common name suggests, this tree makes a great contribution to human life. The bark is extracted to make cork, and this material has various uses, such as wine bottle stoppers, pictures, decorations, supports, sports, sailing, the home, and even fashion. So yes, this plant is very important.

- Quercus suber Nuestra primera planta se trata de un árbol de corcho con hoja perenne. Sea, el árbol no tendrá un cambio en el otoño de sus hojas porque es resistente a cambios climáticos. Tiene origen de Europa y el norte de África. Como su nombre popular indica, se trata un árbol que da un gran aporte al ser humano. Es extraída la corteza para hacer corcho, y ese material tiene distintas funciones, como la tapa de las botellas de vinos, cuadros, adornos, soportes, el deporte, la náutica, el hogar e incluso la moda. Así que sí, esta planta es muy importante.
- Pistacia lentiscus Here is a gem that many of us, due to a lack of knowledge, are unaware of its properties and history. This shrub provides a resin that is used in medicines, condiments, and dental practices. In the past, it was used for oral and stomach treatments and was widely used in traditional medicine in the Middle Ages. I'm not 100% sure, but I think its leaves are also evergreen because, unlike other identified plants, it does not change color or shed its leaves.

- Pistacia lentiscus Aquí está una joya que muchos por falta de conocimiento no sabemos sus propiedades e historia, este arbusto proporciona una resina que es utilizada en fármacos, condimentos, y prácticas dentales, antiguamente era utilizado para tratamiento bucales y estomacales, fue usado bastante en la edad media en la medicina tradicional. No estoy 100%, pero me parece que también su hoja es perenne porque, a diferencia de otras plantas identificadas, esta no tiene cambio de color o caída de sus hojas.

- Acer rubrum Encontramos la especie de árbol popular en otoño, famoso por las hermosas tonalidades que cambia sus hojas al momento de caer, lo conocemos popularmente como el arce rojo, muy famoso en estados unidos y México, famoso verlos en bosques o parques, su función muchos sabemos que el jarabe de maple es extraído en la sabia de este árbol, tiene una gran función en la gastronomía con su sabia.
- Bougainvillea Here we have a little surprise. These beautiful leaves belong to a species of medicinal plant that originates in South America. It grows in humid, tropical areas and is very sensitive to cold, which is why we can see that many of its leaves have fallen. In South America, it is still used in traditional medicine to treat infections and, as it is an antiseptic, it is also used in skin treatments for acne.

- Bougainvillea Aquí tenemos una pequeña sorpresa, estas hermosas hojas o se trata de la flora de una especie de planta medicinal tiene origen de América del Sur, su localización es en zona húmedas y tropicales es muy sensible al frío, por ese motivo podemos observar que sus hojas cayeron a gran cantidad. En América del Sur es todavía utilizado en la medicina tradicional para tratar infecciones y, como es un antiséptico, también es utilizado en tratamiento para la piel como acné.
