Here we are at a new destination, exploring new places and, of course, learning about history and nature. That is precisely what I will share with you today: how the tour went and what new things we found in Trafaria.

Aquí nos encontramos en un nuevo destino, explorando nuevos lugares y por supuesto adquiriendo conocimientos de historia y la naturaleza, justamente eso es lo que compartiré el día de hoy, qué tal fue el recorrido y qué cosas nuevas nos encontramos en Trafaria.

Trafaria is known for being a fishing area, but there are plenty of walks you can do along the route. Most of them lead to the Albufeira lagoon, crossing the Costa Caparica reserve. But if you don't feel like walking, there is also a boat station that will take you to Lisbon-Belém in 15 minutes. In some photographs, you can even see the capital of Portugal on the other side of the water.
Lasius fuliginosus While walking through the streets of Trafaria, I came across a large line of ants, but what caught my attention was that one ant was attacking the others for food, which, funnily enough, they were not taking away but eating. The two largest ones we can see in the photo were attacking the smaller ones, which surprised me because they normally attack each other when one gives a false alarm to the hive or is sick, and to prevent the spread, they attack the infected one. More commonly, when one hive encounters another, they go to war. Believe it or not, these tiny insects have an impressive hierarchy, order and structure, similar to bees. There is even a species of ant that kidnaps larvae from other hives so that when they face each other, they have more soldiers. I recommend watching a documentary about these creatures. Like bees, the way they operate in nature is impressive and will undoubtedly surprise you. According to the internet, I was able to identify them as the species Lasius fuliginosus. If you are very lucky and get to see the queen, which is extremely rare, she is three times the size of the workers and has almost transparent, colourful wings.

Trafaria es conocida por ser un área pesquero, pero en el recorrido tienes bastantes caminatas que puedes hacer. La mayoría se dirigen en sentido a la laguna de albufeira atravesando la reserva de costa caparica. Pero si no deseas caminar, también tenemos una estación de barco que nos deja en Lisboa-Belém en 15 minutos. Incluso en algunas fotografías podremos apreciar que al otro lado del agua podemos ver la capital de Portugal.
Lasius fuliginosus Cuando estaba caminando en las calles de Trafaria me encontré con una línea grande de hormigas, pero lo que me llamó la atención es que había una atacando a las otras por la comida, que graciosamente no se la estaban llevando si comiendo. Las dos más grandes que podemos ver en la foto estaba atacando a las pequeñas, por lo cual me sorprendió porque normalmente se atacan entre ellas cuando alguna da una falsa alarma a la colmena o se encuentra enferma y para evitar la propagación atacan al infectado, o lo más común es cuando hay otra colmena que se encuentra con otra y se enfrenta en guerra. Aunque no lo creamos, estos pequeños insectos tienen una jerarquía, orden y estructura impresionante, similar a las abejas. Incluso hay una especie de hormiga que secuestra las larvas de otras colmenas para que el momento que se enfrente tengan más soldados. Te recomiendo ver un documental de estas amigas. Al igual que las abejas, es impresionante la manera en que operan en la naturaleza, sin duda te sorprenderán. Según el Internet logré identificar que se trata de la especie Lasius fuliginosus. Si con mucha suerte llegas a ver a la reina, cosa que es demasiado extraña, su tamaño es el triple con unas alas casi transparentes coloridas.

As I mentioned earlier, we are in a fishing area, but the fish we see in the photo are not usually caught because they feed on very poor quality food, even seaweed, so fishermen tend to throw them back because their flavour and nutritional value are not the best.
While searching for a supermarket, I had to go to Caparica and found this beautiful church called Nossa Senhora do Monte de Caparica. The architecture is very beautiful and well preserved. According to the information sign, it was built in 1472 and has obviously been rebuilt and cared for to this day.

Como había comentado anteriormente nos encontramos en un área pesquera, sin embargo, estos peces que vemos en la foto no suelen ser pescado porque su alimento es muy pobre incluso de porquería del mar, así que los pescadores suelen devolver estos pescados porque su sabor y nutrientes no son los mejores.
También en busca de un supermercado tuve que ir a Caparica y encontré esta preciosa iglesia llamada Nossa Senhora do Monte de Caparica, la arquitectura es muy linda y muy bien conservada, según el letrero informativo fue construida en 1472, obviamente siendo reconstruido y cuidada hasta los días de hoy.
