- Today I want to share with you this hike I took during my family vacation in the Sezelhe Mountains in Portugal. There, I encountered different new animals and even food. It's incredible the things you can discover, especially from the perspective of someone who lives in an urban environment. Although I love visiting mountains and being in contact with nature, I have lived in cities my whole life and currently continue to do so for work reasons, but I will always make time for getaways to learn from nature. Today, you will discover new things with me.

- El día de hoy vengo a compartirles esta caminata que realicé en mis vacaciones familiares en las montañas de Sezelhe en Portugal. Donde logre encontrarme diferentes animales nuevos e incluso comida, es increíble las cosas que puedes descubrir, desde un punto de vista a una persona que vive en urbanismo, a pesar de que adoro visitar montañas y estar en contacto en la naturaleza, toda mi vida viví en ciudades y actualmente continuo por cuestión de trabajo, pero siempre haré mis escapadas para aprender de la naturaleza y el día de hoy descubrirás conmigo nuevas cosas.
- First, I would like to share a little about where we are located. It is a small town called Sezelhe, located in northern Portugal, right on the border with Spain, so you can visit our neighboring country in 20 minutes by car or by walking for about 2-3 hours through the mountains. Also nearby is the Geres Reserve, a reserve where Portugal's wildlife is concentrated, known for its wolf population, which is protected due to its risk of extinction in the country. In these mountains, we know that we have a good chance of encountering rabbits, snakes, foxes, eagles, spiders, different plants, etc. So let's see what we find on this beautiful walk.

- Primero quiero compartir un poco del lugar donde nos encontramos, se trata de un pequeño pueblo llamado sezelhe, localizado en el norte de Portugal justo en la frontera que comparte con España, así que puedes visitar a nuestro país vecino en 20 minutos en coche o caminando por alrededor de 2 h-3 h atravesando las montañas. También cerca tenemos la reserva de Geres, una reserva donde la fauna de Portugal está concentrada, siendo conocido por su población de lobos, que son protegidos debido a su riesgo de extinción en el país. En estas montañas ya sabemos que tenemos unas grandes posibilidades de encontrar conejos, culebras, zorros, águilas, araña, distintas plantas, etc. Así que vamos a ver qué nos encontraremos en este lindo paseo.
- The broom (Cytisus striatus) This shrub, which only grows on the Iberian Peninsula and belongs to the Fabaceae family, caught my attention because of its unique characteristics. Part of the shrub has hairy leaves that carry its seeds. Some interesting facts about our friend are that it is used by farmers for wool or for making brooms.

- El escobón (Cytisus striatus) El arbusto que solo habita en la península ibérica familia de las fabaceas, fue una de las plantas que me llamó la atención debido a su particularidad y una parte del arbusto tiene una forma de hoja peluda donde porta su semilla. Unos datos curiosos de nuestra amiga son que es utilizada por los granjeros para lana o para la fabricación de escobas.
- Phasmatodea Better known as the stick insect, one of the masters of camouflage, seeing them is a great victory, since depending on their habitat they are the color of plants. To protect themselves from predators, some have wings, others take the form of leaves and sticks. This friend we found has the shape and color of a branch, which allows it to blend in perfectly with the environment where we were.

- Phasmatodea Más conocido como el insecto palo, uno de los insectos maestros del camuflaje, lograr verlos es una gran victoria, ya que dependiendo de su hábitat son del color de las plantas, para lograr protegerse de los depredadores, algunos tienen alas, otros formas de hojas y palos, este amigo que nos encontramos tiene forma y color de rama que logra confundirlo perfectamente con el entorno donde nos encontrábamos
- In the mountains, I found spider webs all along the way in these bushes. They had extensive webbing that covered a large part of the bush and then formed a kind of cone at the bottom. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the owner of this architecture, but I know that the spider hid its prey in the cone because there was a concentration of insects in that area. If you know this weaver, please share it because I couldn't even find any information on the Internet.

- En las montañas me encontré en todo el camino telas de arañas en estos arbustos que tenían un tejido extenso que cubría una gran parte del arbusto y luego formaba una especie de cono en el fondo, lastimosamente no logre encontrar la dueña de esta arquitectura, pero solo sé que la parte del cono la araña escondía sus presas porquera en esa zona había una concentración de insectos. Si conoces esta tejedora, por favor compártelo porque incluso en el Internet no logre conseguir información.
- Berries: If you love berries for making delicious jams to spread on your daily bread or for creating those sweet treats, on this hike you will find many red and black berries. My mother took several home to make a healthy, 100% natural jam. But that's only if we always pick the ones at the top, because the closer they are to the ground, the greater the chance that a fox or other animals will contaminate them with urine and we could pick up bacteria.

- Bayas: Si te encantan las bayas para preparar deliciosas mermeladas que acompañan tu pan del día o crear esos dulces, en esta caminata te encontrarás muchas bayas rojas y negras. Mi madre se llevó varias para luego en casa prepararse una mermelada saludable, 100% natural. Pero eso es si siempre cosechemos las de arriba, porque mientras más cerca del suelo están localizadas, es grande la posibilidad de que un zorro u otros animales lo contaminaran con orina y podemos coger una bacteria.
- Vipera berus This great friend was our bonus on the tour. This viper is very common in Europe, especially in the mountains. Although it is poisonous, it is not considered lethal or aggressive, and it very rarely attacks people. It is more common for them to hide when they notice your presence, and for safety reasons, you should always respect their personal space to avoid scaring them and causing them to attack. They can be found in different colors, the most common being black or brown. Like other species, their diet varies from small mammals to insects; they are not very large. An adult reaches a maximum of 60 cm and a minimum of 55 cm, but this can also vary depending on their location. There are records from France and Great Britain of some reaching almost 90 cm.

- Vipera berus Esta gran amiga fue nuestro bonus en el recorrido, esta víbora es muy común en Europa verlas en las montañas, a pesar de ser venenosa no es considerada letal o agresiva, muy raramente atacan a las personas, es más común siempre que se escondan al momento que notan tu presencia y por seguridad siempre respetando su espacio personal, para evitar asustarla y eso provocara que nos ataque. Podemos encontrarla en diferentes colores, el más común es negro o marrón. Como otras especies, su alimentación varía de pequeños mamíferos o insectos; no son muy grandes. Una adulta alcanza un máximo de 60 cm y un mínimo de 55 cm, pero también puede variar en su localización. Hay registros de Francia y Gran Bretaña de algunas casi alcanzar 90 cm.
- And to end the day with a big smile, we came across this group of sheepdogs that were running and playing freely in the area. When they saw us, they came over to check us out. As we know, dogs raised in the countryside are always ready to attack and defend their territory, so we kept our distance and let them approach us on their own. After sniffing us, they started playing with us. They were undoubtedly adorable.

- Y para terminar el dia con una gran sonrisa nos encontramos este grupo de perros pastores que se encontraban libre corriendo y jugando por la zona y al ver nuestra presencia se acercaron a vernos, como sabemos los perros criados de campo siempre estan listos para atacar y defender su territorio asi que respetamos la distancia y dejamos que se acercaran por si mismo y al ofaltearnos comenzaron a jugar con nosotros sin duda unas ternuras.
