Oh boy. It's been a pinch. I've been busy painting, but there has been some action here.

On Thanksgiving Sunday, at 11PM, the heating water main in our bedroom exploded, sending an incredible amount of scalding water into and through our apartment. We were able to save most of our possessions, but we've been dealing with the fallout since, including the jaw-droppingly discompassionate actions and inaction of our landlords.

The firefighters who came as first response removed our toilet to use the drain for the water runoff. We didn't get it reinstalled until 1:30PM or so on the following Tuesday. This is in spite of asking maintenance workers, contractors, calling the emergency hotline for the building management and being told someone was on their way twice (nobody came). I had to write a maintenance request to have it reinstalled, accusing Timbercreek of human rights violation before they finally took action.

Thursday, they had a plumber come in to fix the burst water main. They only fixed the lower half. The upper portion still appears to be ancient, the original piping from 1964. It could well burst again.

They also sent about seven men to our door with the useless liar of a building manager we have here to do an "inspection", which I can only describe as a rude no-introduction barge-in where they all took video and photos of us and our unit, only the bedroom, and the model number of the industrial dehumidifier we were lent to use for a few days. It was a very threatening experience, and it leaves me paranoid that their aim is to fabricate some reason to evict us. We will fight them, but we shouldn't have to feel this way. This is inhumane.

There's also a man down the hall who was effected by the flood. I believe his clothing is still wet. He requires a mobility device to move, so his capacity to deal with the damage is compromised. The tenants below us have no wall at all, where the water main pipe runs.

Our wall still has a hole in it. No word yet when it will be replaced.

So that's what's kept me from posting for a bit. We're getting our ducks in a row. Damage control, and seeking legal advice, since we have zero doubt that this company will pull strings to cause us more problems.

On the bright side, this painting is unofficially sold, so that's nice.

Wish me luck, friends.
