Hello Hive weekenders family!
---
Nothing is more memorable than a smell. One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains. An idealist is one who, on noticing that roses smell better than a cabbage, concludes that it will also make better soup.
For this week's weekend engagement topic, three of your favorite smells, I knew one for sure! The other two I had to have a think.
The first one I knew for sure was... COFFEE!
The message on the sugar bag for the non spanish speakers says: "Life starts after a coffee". And I couldn't agree more haha. My day can't start until I have a coffee and enjoy the smell of it.
My favorite is Flat White. When I was living in London I used to have that one always. In Spain we have coffee and milk, which is not flat white or capuccino. And I used ro take that with sugar. Now trying to cut on sugars and fat I have just black coffee
---Now it is time for the second of my favorite smells... I am Valencian.. it is not oranges... YES it is the smell of Paella!! I LO VE IT!
I really like the smell of cooking paella with its rosemary and saffron. And if it is cooked on firewood even better.
The paella's smell apart from being so good, brings me lots of good memories because in Valencia it is very typical to have paella om Sundays with friends and family.
It is a very social cooking or dish. "Paellas" can be also the naming for a day spent with your community or group, at university or in Fallas, drinking, chatting, having fun while a few paellas are cooked, sometimes as a competition to find the best cooked paella.
Finally, I was debating myself between two smells for my last choice for the three. And that is the smell of...
Yes! The smell of the beach!
I just love the mix of wet sand, salty sea and fresh air. Reminds me of happy times and obviously, the summer!
