🦉 The black kite (Milvus migrans)
- Milvus (lat) - kite
- migrans (lat.) - migrating
It's so amazing, but these birds always arrive on schedule, on April 2 or 4, regardless of the weather. In these days of April you can already see how gracefully they cut through the air, smoothly hovering over the yards. This is how they inspect garbage cans for anything edible.
This is the so-called "lazy predator". Yes, they are capable of catching live prey, such as small rodents or even squirrels, fish in the river, or chicks. But they will always initially prefer to feast on carrion or food scraps from garbage cans.
