🦉 Siberian chiffchaff (Phylloscopus (collybita) tristis)

  • Phylloscopus Greek: phyllon foliage, skopos seeker, observer
  • ollybita collybista (lat.), kollybistēs, kollybos (Greek) money changer, small coin (name - for a song similar to the sound of falling coins)
  • tristis sad, gloomy, mournful

This bird appears in the forests of my city around the end of April. And I noticed that it arrives earlier than another bird of this family - the willow warbler. In my country there lives a common warbler, but in my region there lives its Siberian subspecies. And what is unusual is that they differ in voices. The common warbler has only one sound in its song, which it pronounces in different intonations. And the Siberian warbler has a full song. which sounds fast.

Externally, the bird can easily be confused with the willow warbler. And they can be distinguished by some features. The color of the legs, in the Siberian they are dark. And also a yellow eyebrow above the eye in the willow.
