🦉 The European pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca)
- Ficedula fi cedulinus (medieval lat.): “A small bird that feeds on figs and turns into a black-headed warbler in winter ”(from: Jobling, 2010)
- hypoleuca hypoleucos Greek: hypo below, a little, leukos white, hypoleukos whitish

These birds are among the first of all insectivorous birds to arrive. This occurs around the end of April, and it's worth noting that the weather in my region at this time is unstable: it can be warm one day, then snow the next, etc. As you can imagine, the insects that this bird feeds on are hiding from such weather, but not all of them.

Some bugs, such as stink bugs, thrive in this type of weather, especially since no one eats them except the flycatcher. This bird builds nests in natural tree hollows or abandoned tree cavities of other birds. Various crevices and holes inside trees are also suitable. In villages, they may live under the roofs of wooden houses.
