🦉 The green sandpiper (Tringa ochropus)
- Tringa (Greek) waterbird the size of a thrush in the texts of Aristotle
- ochropus Greek: ōkhros buffy, pous leg

This long-legged sandpiper prefers to live in swamps in coniferous forests, but I've also seen it several times in mixed forests, also near swamps. But these specific photos were taken near a river, in a small lake.

Several birds were resting on this lake, some preening their feathers, others wading in the shallows and feeding. These birds eat insects, mollusks, and small fish. Incidentally, they often wag their tails like wagtails.
