This week's topic is - FEMALE BIRDS

Chaffinch
The females of these birds are very similar in appearance to the sparrows we're used to seeing in our backyards.

Long-tailed Rosefinch
Unlike males, females are almost white, which camouflages them perfectly among the willows, as you can see in this photo.

Redstart
Not as black and contrasting as the male.

Siskin
While males are bright yellow with a black cap, females are duller and have small, mottled stripes on their underparts.

Redpoll
Unlike males, females do not have a scarlet patch on their neck and chest.

Stonechat
The same situation applies to redstarts: females also lack black in their plumage.
