The cherries began changing colors almost overnight!!! We woke up today to a flush of reddening cherries! The Van cherry variety was the first to ripen. The Bing and Rainer cherries aren’t far behind. Here’s a few pictures showing the different cherry trees in our urban 1/4 acre lot food forest today. The last picture is from atop the Rainer cherry tree canopy ...looking into the backyard food forest and over the neighborhood. You can see a dormant volcano in the distance...that looms over this area. These trees are growing on top of volcanic lava bed. Mineralized soil!
