Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well. How is the weather over there? The weather here is chilly and wet since it's the rainy season. I hate stepping out in this weather, and since I work from home, I love being the most comfortable in my outfits.
Last week, after struggling to put on my favourite shorts, I realised I have added a little weight haha. Most of my shorts are a bit tight and discomforting to wear. A few hours before midnight, I felt motivated to make myself a new pair of shorts.
I had this Ankara fabric for years taking up space so I had to put it to good use. This fabric is colourful and fun to wear. I would love to make it in a plain fabric but that will be for another day.
Making this was super easy and fast. It took me less than 1 hour to make. The only measurement I use was: my shorts length, my thigh circumference + 3 inches ease allowance, and crotch depth[(hip/4)+3]
Material used: 1-1.5 yards of fabric 1-inch elastic band Thread.
The process: [please ignore the caption on the photos]
I folded my fabric into 4. One part of the fold is longer by 2 inches and that would be the back piece.
I marked out my measurements and cut.
And I cut the pockets too. I didn't have enough fabric so I used a matching lining for the front part of the pockets.

I sew the pocket pieces to the sides of the short pieces leaving 3.5 inches at the top for the band.

I sew the inseams and fold the bottom
For the band, I cut the elastic 4 inches smaller than my waist and I sew the sides of the elastic together
I then sew it to the upper part of the shorts.
