Pygmy grasshopper

On a fresh, supple blade of grass, a pygmy grasshopper rested gracefully. This grasshopper is one of those that's easy to find but very difficult to photograph. It wasn't alone; it had friends, but most of them were very wild and wouldn't let me approach.

Its tiny body was beautifully colored, brown and black, combined with golden streaks on its back, truly beautiful. Especially when the sun reflected it, its body gave off a beautiful sparkle, looking like fallen gemstones caught on the leaf.

The grasshopper simply sat there silently, motionless, not screaming for my attention. But that's precisely where its beauty lay. It didn't jump around to be the center of attention. It simply remained still, displaying its charm. I'm sure anyone who saw it would be captivated by its beauty.

In Latin, this grasshopper is known as Lamellitettigodes contractus. It's a member of the Tetrigidae family. Pygmy grasshoppers prefer damp, water-scented habitats, such as near ponds, irrigation canals, rice paddies, and so on. I found in the grass near a fish pond.
