¡Hola tribu amante del manga y el anime!
En el post de hoy, quiero compartirles un fanart sobre otro de mis personajes preferidos del universo de Shingeki no Kyojin: Erwin Smith.
Si hay un personaje que hubiese querido ver en forma de titán, definitivamente habría sido Erwin.
Su determinación y fiereza en el campo de batalla junto con esa mente tan aguda y estratégica que tenía, habría sido una poderosa combinación con el poder de los titanes.
Me puse a pensar cuál titán de los 9, habría sido el mejor para entregarle. Mi elección fue el Titán Armado. Es un titán preparado para enfrentamiento cuerpo a cuerpo, especialmente diseñado para abrir paso a sus compañeros cuando las circunstancias ameritaban el uso de la fuerza física pero también teniendo una visión del objetivo a lograr para aprovechar el poder al máximo. Si siendo un humano era capaz de lograr que sus soldados se motivaran y lo siguieran no importaba cuán peligroso fuera la misión, como titán estoy convencida que habría logrado no sólo que se conquistaran territorios con mayor precisiòn, sino que las tres ramas de la Legión se hubiesen unificado bajo su mando.
Inspirada en esta idea, quise hacer una versión de Erwin en su forma de Titán. Lo primero que hice fue buscar múltiples referencias, tanto de Erwin como del Titán Armado buscando poses y expresiones que pudieran reflejar la fiereza de él para comenzar a hacer los bocetos.
Realizado el boceto básico, era el momento de entrar en los detalles. La armadura de este titán tiene muchos detalles que a veces se pasan por alto con la rapidez de las peleas pero que son todo un reto a la paciencia al momento de dibujarlo.
El lineart lo hice con una combinación de plumillas G-Pen para los detalles más cercanos y las líneas más importantes de la figura y la plumilla Maru para todos los detalles finos del cabello, piel y placas del cuerpo.
Colorearlo me tomó bastante tiempo a pesar de ser pocos los colores de la paleta del personaje. Sin embargo, la cantidad de sombras que se usan en este estilo de anime son mayores que en el anime clásico y había que darle buen volumen a las placas del cuerpo para que no luciera plano.
Finalmente, el background. Me basé en los escenarios del anime para simular el estilo de cielos que vemos en el anime. Es una de las cosas que me encantó de Shingeki no Kyojin. El cielo siempre parecía un protagonista más en la historia, marcando muchas veces el estado emocional con sus cambios de colores.
Y así quedó Erwin en versión titán:
Es una lástima que no tuvimos la oportunidad de verlo como a un titán, sin embargo, pienso que la forma como se cerró este personaje le dio un aire épico y digno que incluso dejó por fuera el hecho de que todo lo que hizo Erwin estaba guíado por un sentimiento egoísta y una ambición personal de encontrar algo. Sin duda, un personaje muy bien escrito y llevado desde su primera aparición hasta su heroico final. Dime, ¿Hay algún personaje que hubieses deseado ver en forma de Titán?

[Hello, manga and anime loving tribe!
Today’s post I want to share a fanart of another one of my favorite characters from the Shingeki no Kyojin universe: Erwin Smith.
If there’s one character I would have wanted to see as a Titan, it would definitely have been Erwin.
His determination and ferocity on the battlefield, together with that razor-sharp, strategic mind, would have been a powerful combination with the Titans’ power.
I thought about which of the Nine Titans would have suited him best. My choice was the Armored Titan. It’s a Titan built for close-quarters combat, especially designed to clear the way for comrades when circumstances called for physical force, while also maintaining a clear vision of the objective to make the most of its power. If as a human he could inspire and rally his soldiers no matter how dangerous the mission, as a Titan I’m convinced he would not only have conquered territory more precisely, but he would have unified the three branches of the Survey Corps under his command.
Inspired by that idea, I wanted to make a version of Erwin in his Titan form. The first thing I did was look for multiple references of both Erwin and the Armored Titan, searching for poses and expressions that could reflect his ferocity so I could start sketching.
Once the basic sketch was done, it was time to move into details. The armor of this Titan has many elements that are sometimes overlooked in the heat of battle but are a real test of patience when drawing them.
I did the lineart using a combination of G-Pen nibs for the main lines and closer details of the figure, and a Maru nib for all the fine details of the hair, skin, and body plates.
Coloring took me a long time despite the character’s palette being limited. The amount of shading used in this anime style is greater than in classic anime, and the plates needed strong volume so they wouldn’t look flat.
Finally, the background. I based it on the anime’s environments to emulate the style of skies we see in the series. It’s one of the things I loved about Shingeki no Kyojin. The sky always seemed like another protagonist in the story, often reflecting emotional states with its shifting colors.
And that’s how Erwin looked in Titan form:
It’s a shame we never had the chance to see him as a Titan, but I think the way his story was closed gave him an epic, dignified air that even set aside the fact that much of what Erwin did was driven by selfish feeling and a personal ambition to discover something. Undoubtedly, a very well-written character, carried from his first appearance to his heroic end. Tell me, is there any character you would have liked to see in Titan form?
