¡Hola comunidad de amantes del anime y el manga!
¡Feliz viernes! Hoy quiero compartirles una ilustración relacionada a las actividades del grupo de Selfshipping con la pareja OCxCanon con la que trabajo esta dinámica: Ylia y Pete Richardson del anime Daiku Maryu Gaiking.
Para esta actividad, teníamos que trabajar algo que estuviera relacionado con la palabra "Estrellas".
Este es un tema muy bueno para trabajarlo con esta pareja ya que precisamente Daiku Maryu Gaiking se basa en peleas y combates con seres que vienen de otro mundo y cuya estrella, Sigma, que era para ellos como el Sol para nosotros, terminó su ciclo de vida convirtiéndose en un enorme agujero negro que termina absorbiendo al planeta Zela, estando a punto de devorarlo.
Así que quería buscar que en la ilustración se mostrara el aspecto guerrero de los héroes y también la belleza de las estrellas, que son todo un misterio para nosotros, los terricolas.
Así que cree una pequeña historia que me sirviera como base para conceptualizar la idea para la ilustración. La historia es la siguiente:
Después de un día de intensas emociones al tener que enfrentar un nuevo ataque de los enemigos, el Dr. Diamond da la orden de aterrizar al Gran Dragón del Espacio lejos de la base, temiendo que la gente de Darío El Grande les estuvieran siguiendo la pista y así evitar que descubran la base oculta en el Faro de Saratoga.
Unas horas más tardes y ya cayendo la noche, Ylia decide salir fuera del Gran Dragón del Espacio a despejarse un momento. Pete, que la había visto tomar la ruta hacia uno de los alerones de la nave, decide seguirla.
Al poco rato, la encuentra completamente absorta mirando el cielo. En la oscuridad del lugar, sólo interrumpido por la señal del faro a lo lejos, las estrellas ofrecen un espectáculo que nadie puede perderse. "- Es casi imposible pensar que de algo tan bello pueda venir tanta amenaza hacia el planeta." decía Ylia más para sí misma. Pete pensó en contestarle algo sarcástico, pero al ver lo maravillada que estaba con la vista del cielo, prefirió no decir nada y quedarse en silencio a su lado mientras la observa.
Ya con esta idea de las circunstancias en las que ocurre la escena podía tener un concepto más claro de lo que quería. El reto con esta ilustración era cómo mostrar tanto las emociones de los personajes como la sensación de un momento a solas entre ellos ante la vasta grandeza del cielo nocturno.
Así que opté por hacer escenas superpuestas al estilo del anime, por lo que prácticamente fueron dos ilustraciones en una. Una ilustración mostraría el momento que comparten Ylia y Pete donde se pueda ver las emociones de cada uno y la otra escena permitiría dar contexto sobre el ambiente nocturno y el lugar desde donde observan el cielo, afuera del Gran Dragón del Espacio.
En la serie, muchas escenas donde los personajes compartían un momento de reflexión ocurría precisamente sobre los alerones del Gran Dragón del Espacio.
Dibujar al Gran Dragón del Espacio en ese ángulo también fue un reto. Tuve que buscar varias referencias para encontrar los detalles de la cabeza del Dragón para lograrlo.
Esta fue la ilustración final y parte de lo que fue el proceso de elaboración desde el boceto hasta el arte final.
Me gustó mucho trabajar esta escena. Tomó bastante tiempo para finalizarla, sin embargo fue un buen ejercicio que me ayudó a entender el uso de las escenas superpuestas en el anime y me dio muchas ideas para aplicarlas en mis prácticas de animación.

Happy Friday! Today, I want to share an illustration related to the activities of the Selfshipping group with the OCxCanon couple I'm working with: Ylia and Pete Richardson from the anime Daiku Maryu Gaiking.
For this activity, we had to create something related to the word "Stars."
This is a great theme to work with for this couple since Daiku Maryu Gaiking is based on battles and fights with beings from another world. Their star, Sigma, which was like our Sun, completed its life cycle and turned into a massive black hole that threatened to devour the planet Zela.
So, I wanted the illustration to show the warrior aspect of the heroes and the beauty of the stars, which are a mystery to us, earthlings.
I created a short story to serve as a basis for conceptualizing the idea for the illustration. The story is as follows:
After a day of intense emotions from having to face a new enemy attack, Dr. Diamond orders the Great Space Dragon to land far from the base, fearing that Dario the Great's people might be tracking them and thus avoiding the discovery of the hidden base at the Saratoga Lighthouse.
A few hours later, as night falls, Ylia decides to step outside the Great Space Dragon to clear her mind for a moment. Pete, who had seen her take the route to one of the wings of the ship, decides to follow her.
Soon, he finds her completely absorbed in watching the sky. In the darkness of the place, interrupted only by the lighthouse signal in the distance, the stars offer a spectacle that no one can miss. "It's almost impossible to think that something so beautiful could pose such a threat to the planet," Ylia says to herself. Pete thinks of replying with something sarcastic, but seeing how amazed she is by the sight of the sky, he prefers to say nothing and stay silent by her side while observing her.
With this idea of the circumstances in which the scene takes place, I could have a clearer concept of what I wanted. The challenge with this illustration was how to show both the emotions of the characters and the feeling of a private moment between them amidst the vast grandeur of the night sky.
So, I opted to create superimposed scenes in the anime style, making it practically two illustrations in one. One illustration would show the moment Ylia and Pete share, where you can see the emotions of each, and the other scene would provide context about the nighttime environment and the place from which they observe the sky, outside the Great Space Dragon.
In the series, many scenes where characters shared a moment of reflection occurred precisely on the wings of the Great Space Dragon.
Drawing the Great Space Dragon from that angle was also a challenge. I had to find several references to capture the details of the Dragon's head to achieve it.
This was the final illustration and part of the process from the sketch to the final art.
I really enjoyed working on this scene. It took quite a bit of time to complete, but it was a good exercise that helped me understand the use of superimposed scenes in anime and gave me many ideas for applying them in my animation practices.
