¡Hola, creadores y amantes del manga y el anime!
Hoy quiero compartirles otro poquito sobre la pareja OCxCanon que estoy trabajando para las actividades del grupo de Selfshipping: Pete Richardson del anime Daiku Maryu Gaiking e Ylia.
En anteriores posts, ya les he comentado sobre la dinámica del Selfshipping, la motivación que tuve para participar en las actividades así como también contarles sobre Pete, Ylia y el entorno del anime en el que se desarrollan las acciones.
En este post, quiero contarles cómo voy manejando la relación entre ellos. Como ya les he contado con anterioridad, yo siempre me he dedicado al shounen, es decir manga de acción para público adolescente, y quería practicar un poco de romance por lo que encontré en las actividades del Selfshipping una forma divertida e interesante de practicar y mantenerme motivada mientras aprendía como llevar este tipo de escenas.
No quiere decir que en el shounen no haya romance, pero se maneja de una forma muy distinta. Por lo general, las escenas de romance se mezclan con algo de humor para hacerlas más ligeras ya que el punto focal de la historia suele ser la acción. Los romances que puedan haber dentro de la historia sólo forman parte de la interacción entre personajes pero no tiene una profundidad tan grande como en el shoujo aunque sí puede llegar a ser uno de los motivos por los cuales el personaje principal llegue a realizar ciertos actos heroicos o sea parte de su motivación para continuar su proceso de evolución.
En el caso de Pete e Ylia he querido manejar la historia con algo de calma. ¡Nada de esos amores a primera vista!
Pete es un personaje con un trauma que lo obligó a cerrarse emocionalmente para enfocarse sólo en su carrera y su misión obligándose a ser estricto y disciplinado tanto consigo mismo como con el resto de la tripulación. Una personalidad así no se desmonta fácilmente de la noche a la mañana.
Ylia, por el contrario, es extrovertida, alegre y le gusta compartir con sus compañeros. Pete ve estos rasgos en ella como falta de disciplina y apego a las instrucciones, así que no se deja convencer fácilmente por su forma tan entusiasta de ser. Ella no puede negar que el Capitán es un hombre guapo, después de todo ¡Los ojos se hicieron para ver! pero no tiene ninguna expectativa a que él se fije en ella en algo más que en su rol como aprendiz de piloto.
Sin embargo, a veces se deja llevar por la fantasía en su cabeza y se imagina cómo podría llegar a ser una relación con él si sólo fuese más abierto y comunicativo.
Por supuesto que esto no lo comparte con nadie más, ni siquiera con Brando Drumond, quien se ha ido convirtiendo en su mejor amigo mientras interactúan en las prácticas.
Así que quise plasmar algo del mundo interno de Ylia versus la realidad que enfrenta en su relación con Pete y salió este mini comic:
Manejar este tipo de escenas de esta manera me ha resultado cómodo y hasta divertido porque puedo plasmar tanto el ambiente emocional que se usa en el shoujo como lo real y cómico del shounen sin sentirme incómoda por trabajar algo fuera de mi zona de confort.
Y bueno, esto fue todo por hoy sobre esta pareja dispareja. Pronto les estaré compartiendo más ilustraciones e historias sobre ellos. Estoy trabajando con el manga sobre ellos y espero poder compartir pronto las páginas que tenga listas.

Hello, manga and anime creators and lovers!
Today I want to share a bit more about the OC×Canon couple I'm working on for the Selfshipping group activities: Pete Richardson from the anime Daiku Maryu Gaiking and Ylia.
In previous posts, I've already told you about the Selfshipping dynamic, my motivation for participating in the activities, and shared about Pete, Ylia, and the anime environment where the actions take place.
In this post, I want to tell you how I'm handling their relationship. As I've mentioned before, I've always been dedicated to shounen, which is action manga for teenage audiences, and I wanted to practice a bit of romance. I found the Selfshipping activities to be a fun and interesting way to practice and stay motivated while learning how to handle these types of scenes.
This doesn't mean there's no romance in shounen, but it's handled very differently. Generally, romance scenes are mixed with humor to make them lighter since the focal point of the story is usually action. Any romances within the story are only part of character interaction and don't have as much depth as in shoujo, although they can become a motivation for the main character to perform certain heroic acts or be part of their evolution process.
In Pete and Ylia's case, I wanted to handle the story with some calm. No love at first sight here!
Pete is a character with a trauma that forced him to emotionally close off, focusing solely on his career and mission, compelling himself to be strict and disciplined with himself and the rest of the crew. Such a personality isn't easily dismantled overnight.
Ylia, on the contrary, is extroverted, cheerful, and enjoys sharing with her teammates. Pete sees these traits in her as a lack of discipline and adherence to instructions, so he isn't easily convinced by her enthusiastic way of being. She can't deny that the Captain is a handsome man,after all, eyes were made to see!, but she has no expectations of him noticing her as anything more than a pilot apprentice.
However, sometimes she lets herself be carried away by fantasy in her head and imagines what a relationship with him might be like if he were just more open and communicative.
Of course, she doesn't share this with anyone, not even with Brando Drummond, who has become her best friend during their practices.
So I wanted to capture something of Ylia's internal world versus the reality she faces in her relationship with Pete, and this mini-comic came out:
Handling these types of scenes this way has been comfortable and even fun for me because I can capture both the emotional atmosphere used in shoujo and the real and comic elements of shounen without feeling uncomfortable working outside my comfort zone.
