I haven't watched any sort of movies or shows for quite some time, but I had the chance to catch KPop Demon Hunters on Netflix recently!
Am not sure how popular this movie is in different parts of the world, but over here in Singapore, I have been seeing a lot on engagement on mainstream social media, especially the songs featured in the movie. I have included two of them that I liked the most, "Soda Pop" and "Golden" below and you can take a listen! For those who are familiar with KPop culture, and the likes of Blackpink and BTS, the tunes for the songs should not come as a surprise.

Without providing too many spoilers, KPOP Demon Hunters is about a movie about hunters hunting down demons, and the setting seemed to have some references to South Korea and KPop. I found the style very refreshing because it felt like a musical at times, "similar" to Disney movies, but the songs were KPop in nature.
The Good
The songs! They are so catchy and groovy, and whoever came up with those songs and sang them, thumbs up to them! Never have I thought KPop music can be incorporated so seamlessly into a plot in a movie!
The Not So Good
If I had to be honest, I felt the plot was quite average. With a relatively short runtime of 99 minutes, there wasn't much of a story to tell. I appreciated that there was a back story and it felt like there was a slight "moral of the story" behind the movie but the message did not come out strongly and I was left wondering what the takeaway of the movie was. I was also looking for emotional scenes or hilarious moments in the movie, but unfortunately, it was lacking as well.
All in all, I would probably rate this movie an average 3 out of 5 stars, but for the awesome KPop songs, this movie probably deserved 1 more star. For those who plan to watch the movie on Netflix, I think it's probably good not to have too high expectations, and just sit back and relax, look forward to enjoying some great music, sing along or even dance along, and watch the battle of hunters versus demons.
