It’s Saturday, and our itinerary for today is to add another prefecture to our list, Nara. This is my first time visiting Nara, despite having already been to Osaka twice before. Normally, tourists include Nara in their itinerary when they’re in Osaka since it’s just an easy half-day trip. The first time, we didn’t have enough time, and the second time, we were supposed to go but canceled at the last minute because of the pandemic scare.
I’m excited to finally tick Nara off my bucket list. It’s just a chill itinerary today: go to Nara, see the deers at the park, and check out Tōdai-ji Temple. Also, @wittyzell recommended trying Tenri ramen, which is famous in Nara.
We followed the itinerary and everything went smoothly. We weren’t in a hurry, and our pace was relaxed. This is the kind of exploration I enjoy at my age lol. 😂 I can’t do very hectic travel plans anymore.
Nara Park
These creatures are super cute!!! Meccha kawaii (めっちゃかわいい)!!! They’re so used to people that there’s no problem touching them. We decided not to buy the food for the deer (しかせんべい shika senbei) though, because we noticed they get very aggressive with anyone holding it. They’ll keep chasing you until you hand it over.
Tōdai-ji Temple (東大寺 とうだいじ)
It’s a very large temple with a huge Nandaimon Gate (南大門 なんだいもん). You can still see deers around the temple grounds, even though Tōdai-ji is about 1 km away from the main Nara Park.
Tenri Ramen
If you’ve read my previous posts, you already know I really love Yokohama Iekei Ramen, and it’s very hard for me to like other types. As expected, the Tenri Stamina Ramen didn’t surpass my love for Iekei ramen, but I’d still give it a thumbs up. I was able to finish both the ramen bowl and the rice without it feeling too much. I’d definitely recommend trying it.
Since we finished early in Nara, we added Tsutenkaku Tower to our itinerary before having our last Osaka trip meal at Torikizoku. We waited for the sun to set so we could take nice pictures of the tower as it lit up. I really loved that moment of just looking at the view, the tower, the city, and the sunset all together.
What a productive two weeks of prefecture hunting with @wittyzell and @chillquill. Looking forward to our next adventures in Japan 🤗
