The second leg of this one-month trip will be spent mostly in Okayama Prefecture, where my sister is staying. I took an express bus from Osaka Station to Okayama Station for 3,000 yen. It was a nice ride, with views of green fields and forests. This already gave me an idea of what to expect in the next two weeks: lush greenery, rice fields, lakes, and plenty of nature, plus the bonus of a cool breeze. I can already feel autumn here. It’s cooler than Osaka, and the vibe is different : less busy, more like a sleepy town. In this leg, I’ll be spending most of my time in Kibichuo, with occasional visits to Saidaiji and Okayama’s main center.
My sister and her best friend, who are both working as English teachers here, welcomed me with a hearty lunch and then took me to an izakaya at night. I had five drinks: coke highball, ginger highball, peach fizz, cassis soda, and chuhai lemon. They treated me to both lunch and dinner, saying it was their turn to return the favor since I was always the one treating them when they were in Cebu staying with me. I love treating my loved ones, but it also feels good to be treated. As we say, “Mas lami kung libre,” hahahaha! 😆
We were kinda tipsy and super full, so we walked around Saidaiji city at night. It felt like a ghost town since I barely saw anyone in the streets at 9PM. I was really tired today, so I immediately went to sleep when we got home.
