Today I got an offset from work, so I planned to explore Okayama more. This is also my last full day here, as I’ll be heading back to Osaka tomorrow. It’s already getting cold, so I was craving for an onsen daytrip. Thankfully, I found an accessible one by train called Setouchi Tama no Yu. It’s about an hour away from Okayama Station to Uno Station and the onsen is just a few meters walk from the station.
There are other onsen places too, but they’re harder to reach since they’re only accessible by car. Next time, I’ll try those if my sister comes with me.
I had the best time at this onsen! The facilities were clean and modern, and since it was a weekday, there was no crowd, just a few people. The outdoor onsen was pure heaven. I stayed there for about an hour trying out the different baths. I especially loved the herbal mist sauna. It was so relaxing and aromatic. If it wasn’t so hot, I would’ve stayed longer, but I could only manage about five minutes before giving up.
Lunch was also delicious. I ordered soba and enjoyed it with a nice view. It was super relaxing! After that, I went to their lounge and Japanese-style rest area, where I had a really good nap. Before heading home, I went back to the onsen for another hour to make the most of it, then returned to Okayama Station to have a sushi 🍣 dinner with my sister and her bff.
What a nice and relaxing day it has been. Going onsen day trips is one of my favorite things to do in Japan, especially during the colder seasons. Can’t wait for winter onsen trips! Calling @wittyzell @itz.inno to start planning already and @chillquill to confirm her attendance, awwp 🥰♨️
