Meguro River — this is where I’m taking you for my WalkVentures Stepisode 5.
Today, my walking route will follow the riverside of Meguro, covering around 5 kilometers.
I was specifically looking for a path with plenty of shaded areas and a cool breeze, so I thought walking along the riverbanks would be ideal.
It’s a good thing I passed by a part of the Meguro River the other week while walking from Jiyugaoka to Shinjuku so today, I’m making it happen!

There are several bridges constructed along the Meguro River, allowing pedestrians to conveniently cross over to the other side and continue their walk or explore different parts of the riverside path.
Honmura Bridge
Kamenoko Bridge
Below pictures are the pathways I walked through. I was really glad they were shaded, especially since it was still around 3PM when I started walking and the sun was still shining intensely. It was such a relief to have plenty of trees, most likely Sakura trees, planted along the path, providing natural cover from the heat. The cool breeze also helped ease the humidity, making the walk much more comfortable despite the warm weather.
While walking, I saw a bench along the riverside and it looked so inviting that I couldn’t resist, even though I wasn’t really tired yet. I just had to sit down, feel the cool breeze, enjoy the peaceful scenery, listen to the birds and the distant sounds of the busy city, and take a moment to reflect on life charot!
While I was sitting on the bench, I noticed that planes usually passed by at around 10-minute intervals. So I started taking pictures of them using my phone camera with the 3x zoom. I actually had fun doing that.
Look at this series of pictures. It kind of looks like the plane is crashing into that tall structure, but don’t worry, no planes were harmed. It's just a visual illusion.
phew! that seemed close!

I had fun with this relaxing walk and I’m looking forward to more riverside strolls like this in the future.
That’s all for this stepisode. Catch you on my next WalkVentures! 👣
