Vor anderthalb Monaten habe ich hier darüber berichtet, dass ich aktuell Mandarinenpflanzen ziehe. Da sich meine Gärtner-Erfahrung auf quasi gar keine besondere Erfahrung beschränkt, ist bei mir alles nur ein Experiment. Ich bin mir vollkommen bewusst, dass meine Pflanze jederzeit völlig selbstverschuldet eingeht. Hier ein kleiner Rückblick, wie die Pflanze(n) zu meinem letzten Beitrag aussah(en):

Umgetopft habe ich heute lediglich die linke Planze. Die anderen zwei sind in ihren Tod gewandert. Rückblickend hätte man die beiden anderen auch einfach im Topf lassen können, um zu schauen, wie sie sich im zu kleinen Topf noch entwickeln - etwa als "Ersatz", sollte die heute umgetopfte Pflanze draufgehen. Aber nun ist es für solche Überlegungen zu spät. ^^
Beim Umtopfen habe ich darauf geachtet, die Erde so nah wie möglich an den beiden anderen Pflanzen auszustechen, um die Wurzel meiner Ziel-Pflanze nicht zu beschädigen. Sind Mandarinen eher flach oder tief verwurzelt? Ich weiß es nicht und deshalb habe ich gleich beide Szenarien abgedeckt. :P
Verwundert hat mich etwas, dass ich beim Abstechen gar nicht das Gefühl hatte, Wurzelwerk zu durchtrennen, obwohl ich direkt an den anderen Pflanzen gestochen habe. Vielleicht habe ich aber auch zu viel Wurzelwerk für solch kleine Pflanzen erwartet.
Nun bleibt zu hoffen, dass die Pflanze sich gut in ihrer neuen Erde und im größeren Topf einlebt. Hoffentlich fühlt sie sich nicht zu einsam, nun wo sie allein ist.
Sofern die Pflanze es über die nächsten Wochen überlebt und mir nicht zu böse ist, dass ich ihre Geschwister in den Tod geschickt habe, werde ich die Pflanze in den nächsten Wochen hereinholen, damit sie es im Winter im Warmen überdauern kann. Nächstes Jahr ist sie dann hoffentlich soweit gewachsen, dass sich das erneute Umtopfen wieder lohnt. Bis dahin, wünscht mir viel Erfolg, dass ich meine Pflanze am Leben erhalte!

Today I only repotted the plant on the left. The other two have been moved to their deaths. In hindsight I could have left the other two in the pot to see how they’d develop in a too-small pot — maybe as “spares” in case the repotted plant died. But now it’s too late for those considerations. ^^
When repotting I made sure to dig as close as possible to the other plants so as not to damage the roots of my target plant. Are mandarins shallow- or deep-rooted? I don’t know, so I covered both scenarios. :P
I was a bit surprised that when I dug around I didn’t get the feeling of cutting through roots, even though I dug right next to the other plants. Maybe I’d just expected more root mass for such small plants.
Now we can only hope the plant settles in well in its new soil and larger pot. I hope it doesn’t feel too lonely now that it’s on its own.
