Greetings, hivers.
Today I’m sharing with you some photos from a religious procession in Old Havana. I don’t remember attending one before, at least not with the photographer’s eye truly alert.
Several things caught my attention, but the image of the altar boys swinging the thurible was especially fascinating. Those young men in white robes, the smoke filling the air, creating a sacred, almost mystical atmosphere, it was a delight to photograph.
Before the procession began, a friend told me that the thurible is the hypnotizer of photographers. I didn’t quite understand what he meant until I saw it moving side to side, like a pendulum in a hypnotic session.
I hope I managed to capture some of that essence in my photos.

Hoy vuelvo a compartir con ustedes algunas fotos de una procesión religiosa en La Habana Vieja. No recordaba haber asistido antes a una, al menos no con el ojo del fotógrafo realmente atento.
Varias cosas me impresionaron, pero la imagen de los monaguillos balanceando el turíbulo fue especialmente fascinante. Esos jóvenes con sotanas blancas, el humo envolviendo el ambiente y creando una atmósfera eclesiástica, casi mística, fueron un deleite para fotografiar.
Antes de comenzar la procesión, un amigo me dijo que el turíbulo es el hipnotizador de los fotógrafos. No lo entendí del todo hasta que lo vi moverse de un lado a otro, como un péndulo en una sesión hipnótica.
Espero haber capturado algo de esa esencia en mis fotos. Y espero también que les gusten. Los leo.
