Hello hivers. How are you today?
A few days ago, while walking through El Vedado with my camera in hand as always, I came across a very peculiar man. He was collecting cans from the street to deliver them as raw material and earn a little extra income. As he told me himself, things are really tough, and indeed, they truly are.
Everything was going smoothly until he started giving me a full lecture about economic models, inflation, expenses, costs, and a whole repertoire of complex economic terms that left me speechless. The man is a true professional and, in my opinion, a highly knowledgeable economist. We talked for a while, and after gaining his trust, he allowed me to take a portrait —the first photo in today’s series.
These encounters are more common than we might think, and they make you reflect: how many professionals are out there doing ordinary tasks when the country needs them the most? Reflecting on that —but knowing I won’t have the answer, much less the solution— I continued my walk and the photos I share with you today. I hope you enjoy them.

Hola hivers. ¿Cómo se encuentran hoy?
Hace unos días, paseando por El Vedado y con la cámara en mano como siempre, me encontré con un señor muy peculiar. El amigo estaba recolectando latas en la calle para entregarlas como materia prima y así tener una entrada extra. Porque, según sus propias palabras, la cosa está durísima, y es cierto, muy dura está.
Todo iba bien hasta que comenzó a darme una disertación sobre modelos económicos, inflación, gastos, costos y todo un repertorio de términos complejos de la economía que me dejaron perplejo. El señor es un profesional en toda regla y, a mi parecer, un conocedor de la economía a un nivel muy alto. Conversamos un rato, y luego de ganar su confianza, me permitió hacerle una fotografía, que es la primera de la serie de hoy.
Estos encuentros son más comunes de lo que pensamos, y llevan a la reflexión: ¿cuántos profesionales habrá haciendo tareas banales cuando tanto los necesita el país hoy? Reflexionando, pero sabiendo que no tengo la respuesta —y mucho menos la solución— seguí mi paseo y las fotos que hoy les traigo. Espero que les gusten.
