I’ve always wondered what flow really is. We often hear someone say “that person has incredible flow,” yet we don’t always know exactly what they mean. I used to say it too, without fully understanding it. Until I met this Rastafari.
He was in the Forest of Havana, playing his guitar among the lush vegetation and the damp air of the place, whistling old reggae songs. There was a scent of herb in the breeze. People passing by would leave him a few coins, as if thanking him for a brief moment of peace. He didn’t say a single word. He didn’t need to. His music spoke for him.
Like a teacher of life, he enchanted everyone, the way a charmer does with a serpent. I stood there for a few minutes, just listening and taking in the moment. Then I placed a little money at his feet and began photographing him while he continued playing.
I don’t know if my photos managed to capture his flow, but I definitely found mine while taking them. I hope they transmit something to you as well.

Siempre me he preguntado qué es exactamente el flow. Porque a veces escuchamos que alguien dice “ese tiene tremendo flow” y no sabemos con certeza a qué se refiere. Yo también lo decía sin entenderlo del todo. Hasta que me encontré con este rastafari.
Estaba en el Bosque de La Habana, tocando su guitarra entre la vegetación y la humedad del lugar, silbando viejas canciones de reggae. Había aroma a hierba en el aire. La gente que pasaba le dejaba algunas monedas, como quien agradece un instante de paz. Él no decía ni una palabra. No hacía falta. Su música hablaba por él.
Como un maestro de la vida, ese hombre encantaba a todos, igual que un domador a una serpiente. Me quedé escuchándolo unos minutos, disfrutando del momento. Entonces puse un poco de dinero a sus pies y me dispuse a fotografiarlo mientras seguía tocando.
No sé si mis fotos lograron capturar su flow, pero yo sí sentí el mío mientras las hacía. Ojalá a ustedes también les transmitan algo.
