Those of you who remember me will remember my love for our four-legged friends. My own beloved Bruno passed in 2020 and it took five years before I was ready to take on another dog. Living with my ex-wife and 13 year-old granddaughter makes it easier s there will be someone to look after them when I'm gone. One year ago this month we got Boogerz...
but this is about Moose, not necessarily Boogs.
A little over a week ago, a friend came by and dropped off a sick puppy, the runt of the litter whose mother refused to nurse him and siblings who constantly tried to kill him. He wasn't in very good shape. He was tiny and had to be fed milk and a bit of sugar out of a dropper.
He was so tiny he fit in the palm of one hand. Truthfully, I wasn't optimistic that he would last a week. Now, nine days later, he's eating solid food, drinking water and running around the house getting into everything. He supposed to be a Shih Tzu-Yorkie mix so I don't expect him to get very big... particularly in light of the fact that he was the runt. So I named him Moose. For some perspective, Boogs stands about 12 inches at the shoulder...
He's about as big as her head. But, even so, he's almost twice the size he was when we got him. This is another picture from a day or so after we got him...
All of these pictures were taken with the 2x setting on my cell phone so he may look larger than he actually is. Nobody seems to know exactly how old the Moose is. He barely had any teeth when we got him and he constantly tries to suckle from Boogs so I figure him to be 6-7 weeks. He's begining to eat like a moose so I'm optimistic that he's going to pull through. I'll take him for his shots and a checkup at our vet's in about a month.
