Hello Amazing You!
Howdy today? Bet you had a great day. Mine, was "just there" though.
Well, its Day 4 of my #sevendaybeerchallenge. Strangely, I am still on it. Thanks to @abigail-dantes' steady push and motivation. I haven’t quit just yet...Lolz.
And while @abigail-dantes is having a much needed holiday from beer and chilling with her "sparkling water", I am still here, dealing with liquor. (What a life! lolz)
It’s been somewhat interesting anyways. Well, I’ve got just 3 days left, before I quit this beer-phase. It really hasn’t been smooth though; especially the Day 3 beer which left a fowl taste lingering in my mouth.
Well, what I took from yesterday’s beer experience was that the beer wasn’t exactly bad, it was quite smooth actually, only that the corn and maize ingredients in it didn’t agree with me at all. So, it’s a no-no for me when it comes to beer or liquor that contains maize extracts or corn in it. No and No, to such!
Anyways, for today’s beer, I had to take @turpsy’s advice. The dude must be legendary with liquour, only that he is too busy to join this challenge or perhaps too scared…lolz. Well, @turpsy suggested that I try out Smirnoff Ice beer. So, once again I visited a mall and I noticed two variants - a common red-coloured bottle and its Can alternative; and a rather scary looking Black Can and bottle alt too. I decided to settle for the black can, and so, I went for it.
General Info
Beer Name – SMIRNOFF ICE (Double Black)
The beer is described as a strong blend of Smirnoff Vodka with a Guarana and citrus mixer. It has a strong 6.5% alcohol content and cost me $1.2.
The Smirnoff brand is a vodka brand owned and produced by Diageo, a British company. Smirnoff began with a vodka distillery in Moscow, Russia, founded by Pyotr Arsenievich Smirnov, and today the beer is present in over 130 countries. Meanwhile, the Smirnoff Ice Double Black which is my Day 4 Beer, is a malt beverage product of the Smirnoff group.
Review
The beer has a very pleasant taste. Further consumption showed that it had a very strong blend of vodka with a distinct citrus flavour to go with it. It felt smooth in the mouth even with its sharp and somewhat tangy taste which gave a very refreshing feel. Drinking it cold was a perfect as it could ever be. A gulp gives you a sharp but sweet sensation synonymous with citric substances. The distinct vodka flavour serenades your tongue with pleasure as you let if flow. As expected, due to the citric soda ingredient, it didn’t foam like your traditional beer. It has a clear whitish colouration as well; unlike most beer colours which are usually foamy orange. The beer can go with any meal as long as it is chilled. I did enjoy this particular beer.
Will I drink it again? Yes, I will. The beer felt and tasted really nice. The alcohol content perhaps gives it a good kick as well. I kind of regretted buying just a can. I reckon I’d get a pack of it, after I’m done with this challenge; as there are packs of 4, 10 and 12, which were available at the mall.
Who would I be nominating? Well, I’d be nominating a friend @odochydanielle for this challenge. She is quite a prolific writer on the platform, and a very good poet. As strange as it might sound, she’s very acquainted with quality liquor 😁 too, and I hope to see her take up this seven day beer challenge.
As per the rules of the challenge;
- You have to try a new beer every day, for 7 days
- The beer must be something you have never tasted before
- You must put a photo of the beer and write a few words about it
- Nominate someone every day
- If you are a social outcast with no friends to invite you just join the fun. You have every excuse to drink!
- Use the tag "#sevendaybeerchallenge" as one of your five tags.
