As much as both the physical and mental health of a person is important, it often feels to me that the mental state of a person holds more importance, although a person who is seriously ill physically and hospitalized may be unable to do anything productive rather than to lay on bed to recover, when the mental state of a person is disrupted, it also affects the physical health of that individual. The mind is also connected to the body, and it strongly affects the state of the body whenever there is unrest in the mind.

In my experience, A person who has anxiety may get a fever and nausea in the end, and may not be able to do anything because of their state of mind. Often, the only option left for this individual is to sleep to get their mind settled.

Our Physical and mental health extends beyond our body being free from disease; physical and mental health is a state of body and mind where our body and mind can efficiently and effectively perform day-to-day tasks without being overly fatigued. For one to be mentally and physically healthy, one must exercise daily, eat balanced and well-nourished meals, and maintain a healthy pattern of rest. Eating well helps an individual maintain sound physical health.

By eating well-nourished meals, an individual is able to revitalise, repair and replace dead body cells. A well-rested body can get refreshed strength to engage in the day-to-day activities, and it also helps the mental state to be sharp and active. A person who is not well rested may be unable to think clearly and act in their full capacity, unlike when the individual is rested.

There are a lot of factors that may affect the mental and physical health of an individual, these may include: stress, poor sleeping habits, poor eating habits, depression and overthinking. Family history, etc. I once had a panic attack as a result of fear. When this happened, I was nauseated, and had my heart beating at a very fast rate, it was my first time to experience such and I didn’t know what it was, the only thing I could do was to force myself to sleep, my mind was heavy and I was sweety, something that was affecting my mind transcended to the whole part of my body, I started feeling feverish and I couldn’t do anything. One thing about conditions that affect your mental health is that they always come back if not treated correctly; some of these mental imbalances require us to even live the rest of our lives on medication.

I try to stay healthy first mentally and then physically. Since I discovered that my mental health strongly affects my physical health, I stay healthy by avoiding anything that stresses me mentally, and I try as much as I can to eat healthy and nutritious meals, always try to get to sleep well every day, to have the proper rest I need. Another thing is to understand how one's body works, what one is allergic to and should always try to avoid. For instance, I am allergic to groundnuts and fish, and I tend to be nauseated anytime I eat either of them, so I avoid them.
