As a fashion designer, I’ve come to realize that not every trimming you see on a dress is there to dazzle the eyes. Many people assume every bow, lace, or ribbon is a deliberate decoration, but in truth, they often tell a different story.
Sometimes, a trimming covers up a tiny mistake made during stitching. Other times, it’s used to extend the length of a dress that turned out shorter than expected. A neatly placed piece of lace may be hiding a tear, or a patch of fabric may be sealing an area distorted by the heat of an iron. What the world sees as “style” may, in fact, be a smart designer’s way of turning flaws into beauty. That’s the artistry of fashion—transforming imperfections into unique details that make every piece one of a kind.
