Here I am again, in the bath, contemplating life and the reasons why I've missed a day or two of Hive. I suppose I'm only ~~Hiveian~~ human.

As many of us 😜 you know we are renovating a small house on the coast - an utter unbelievable dream. I'm so thrilled I could squeal and quite often do. Anyway, whatever, I have made a new little set mushroom drawers to go in the main bedroom robe, which will have sliding doors one day we can't yet offord. Over to a free 40 year old pine drawer I sanded back, painted and waxed, and lined with cheap peel and stick mushroom wallpaper. I even cut out mushrooms for surprises when you open the drawers.

Okay okay, it looks a little ~~mush~~ much but it's for inside a wardrobe so it just brings pleasure to me. Currently it's being used, with a towel tablecloth, as a makeshift ~~drinking red wine~~ dining table..

Meanwhile, all the sales have started so I've got half price sheer linen blinds and wooden Venetian blinds, and we are mid designing an zikea kitchen. We need to do that before the hybrid flooring goes in and the carpets too.

It's actually a real pleasure to design things and know it'll all be done by Christmas instead of waiting sixteen years and making do. We have decided to pay someone to do the hybrid flooring, which is madness for us as we usually do it ourselves.

Last night we had our first night in the house, on farm mattresses. There was a big swell and oh my fucking God I could hear the ocean.. I know I know, like der right!??? But somehow if been so head down in DIY I'd forgotten that's what would happen. I grew up only a kilometre from a famous surfing beach so dor it was like returning to the womb. Also, possums runnings across the roof, but only Jamie heard that was I was snoring because ~~wine~~ I was tired.

Jamie's been working on sanding the south timber window frames ready to paint, the merbau screening that will hide the west neighbors, and finishing painting the front rooms. That way we can move some things in and sleep there whilst we paint the rest of the house.

We spent ages measuring and thinking about the kitchen tonight but have also made an appointment with the IKEA planners in store because ~~fuck this shit I have no brain power left~~ they'll be able to price it and maybe come up with some ideas we haven't thought of.

Funny story, the estate agent messaged to say the vendors wanted to know if we were getting rid of the hallway light and if so, could they have it? We laughed and haven't replied. One, they're worth money, and two, we paid too much h for the house and they can buy them from us or how about no, we might keep them as a nod to the houses vintage past.
