Todavía no puedo creer que estoy escribiendo mi primera publicación para @hivemargarita, y es que ustedes no se imaginan la cantidad de veces que soñé con esto, así que estoy más que feliz de presentar mi primera publicación para nuestra comunidad, y se trata de una excursión en familia al cerro que comunica dos playas hermosas del Municipio Antolin del Campo en Isla Margarita, como lo son **Playa Parguito** y **Playa Puerto Abajo**.
>I still can't believe I'm writing my first publication for @hivemargarita, and you can't imagine how many times I dreamed about this, so I'm more than happy to present my first publication for our community, and it's about a family excursion to the hill that connects two beautiful beaches of the Municipality Antolin del Campo in Margarita Island, such as **Playa Parguito** and **Playa Puerto Abajo**.
De ambas playas guardo muchísimos recuerdos de diferentes épocas de mi vida, por ejemplo **Puerto Abajo** me traslada a mi infancia, esa bahía de aguas serenas nos recibía en vacaciones cuando mi tía **Ada** que venía de Caracas con mis primos Félix y Faidelix, nos llevaba a todos los primos, tanto a los que vivían en la isla como a los que veníamos de vacaciones, y eso era como tener nuestra piscina privada, ya que al ser una bahía es una playa muy tranquila y mí tía podía disfrutar del mar sin preocuparse de que nos revolcaran las olas 🤣
**Playa Pargüito** por otro lado fue la playa de mi adolescencia. Ya para mis 13 años nos mudamos a Margarita y era el lugar favorito para ir con mi hermana (la del medio) y mis primas a ver las competencias de surf regionales, nacionales e internacionales, ya que esta playa a diferencia de Puerto Abajo tiene unas olas enormes, perfectas para este deporte, el **bodyboard** donde usan una tabla más pequeña además de otra que llaman **skinboard**, que se usaba para deslizarse por la orilla de la playa a lo largo y para dicha nuestra teníamos a uno de los mejores surfistas incluso a nivel internacional Justin Mujica.
From both beaches I keep a lot of memories of different times of my life, for example **Puerto Abajo** takes me back to my childhood, that bay of serene waters received us on vacation when my aunt **Ada** who came from Caracas with my cousins Felix and Faidelix, she would take all of us cousins, both those who lived on the island and those of us who came on vacation, and that was like having our private pool, since being a bay is a very quiet beach and my aunt could enjoy the sea without worrying about us getting rolled by the waves 🤣 **Playa Pargüito** on the other hand was the beach of my adolescence. Already for my 13 years we moved to Margarita and it was the favorite place to go with my sister (the middle one) and my cousins to see the regional, national and international surfing competitions, since this beach unlike Puerto Abajo has huge waves, perfect for this sport, the **bodyboard** where they use a smaller board plus another one they call **skinboard**, which was used to slide along the shore of the beach along and for our joy we had one of the best surfers even internationally Justin Mujica.     Y en este punto debo confesar que íbamos únicamente a ver a chicos, porque le teníamos muchísimo miedo a sus olas enormes que más de una vez nos hicieron tragar agua y salir con una buena cantidad de arena en los trajes de baño, pero en ese momento **Playa Pargüito** era la moda, y nos quedaba tan cerca que podíamos ir caminando, además teníamos dos amiguitos surfistas que eran unos bombones, y les juro que todavía recuerdo sus nombres (Antonio y Fernando), además que ver a Justin surfear era un espectáculo, sin dejar de lado que era un rubio de ojos azules de muy buen ver 🤣🤣 En fin, volviendo al tema de la salida de hoy, estas dos playas están divididas por un cerro, que el día de ayer le prometimos a nuestros que hijos que los llevaríamos a conocer hoy, si amanecía nublado como había pasado los tres días anteriores, y por supuesto se despertaron bien temprano y como estaba nublado cumplimos nuestra promesa y decidimos subir por **Playa Pargüito** para bajar a **Puerto Abajo** donde decidieron que querían bañarse.
And at this point I must confess that we only went to see the guys, because we were very afraid of the huge waves that more than once made us swallow water and leave with a good amount of sand in our swimsuits, but at that time **Playa Pargüito** was the fashion, and it was so close that we could walk there, plus we had two surfing buddies who were really hot, and I swear I still remember their names (Antonio and Fernando), plus watching Justin surfing was a spectacle, not to mention that he was a very good looking blond with blue eyes 🤣🤣 Anyway, back to the subject of today's outing, these two beaches are divided by a hill, which yesterday we promised our children that we would take them to know today, if it was cloudy as it had happened the previous three days, and of course they woke up early and as it was cloudy we kept our promise and decided to go up **Playa Pargüito** to go down to **Puerto Abajo** where they decided they wanted to swim.       Nos fuimos en el carro y lo estacionados en Pargüito que como pueden ver tenía a algunos surfistas disfrutando del tiempo de lluvia que hace que las olas sean mejores para ellos, y como ven, la marea estaba súper alta, pero aún así la playa lucía hermosa. Tomamos algunas fotitos y comenzamos a subir, y apenas dimos unos pocos pasos y comenzamos a disfrutar de unas vistas simplemente mágicas. Por supuesto nos paramos a tomar algunas fotos, porque paisajes como estos no se ven todos los días, y después algunas fotitos (muchas), continuamos subiendo, y para serles sincera ese camino la verdad recordaba mucho más corto, pero hoy me pareció que jamás iba a llegar al otro lado. Por suerte la vista me distrajo.
We left in the car and parked it in Pargüito which as you can see had some surfers enjoying the rainy weather that makes the waves better for them, and as you can see, the tide was super high, but still the beach looked beautiful. We took some pictures and started to walk up, and just took a few steps and started to enjoy some simply magical views. Of course we stopped to take some pictures, because you don't see landscapes like this every day, and after some pictures (many), we continued climbing, and to be honest I remembered that road as much shorter, but today it seemed to me that I was never going to get to the other side. Luckily the view distracted me.      Tuvimos que cambiar varias veces de camino porque los enormes cactus y yaques secos habían cerrado los que conocíamos, creo que esto se debe a que ya casi nadie pasa por ellos, pero en mis tiempos adolescentes era justo por ahí donde todos pasan de Puerto Abajo a Parguito o viceversa, por lo que estaban bien definidos, pero les cuento que resultó mejor que cada tanto tuviésemos que desviarnos porque pudimos tomar fotos hermosas. Nos encontramos con dos cuevas súper famosas como lo son **cueva murciélago** y **cueva la bruja** desde donde algunos osados se lanzaban sin importar el peligro que eso implicaba. Yo por supuesto fui bastante respetuosa y tomé las fotos guardando mi distancia.
We had to change the road several times because the huge cactus and dry yaques had closed the ones we knew, I think this is because almost no one goes through them anymore, but in my teenage days it was right there where everyone goes from Puerto Abajo to Parguito or vice versa, so they were well defined, but I tell you that it was better that every now and then we had to deviate because we could take beautiful pictures. We came across two very famous caves such as **bat cave** and **witch cave** from where some daredevils jumped without caring about the danger that this implied. I of course was very respectful and took the pictures keeping my distance.      Desde arriba pudimos disfrutar de una vista simplemente maravillosa, podíamos ver todo Parguito, Puerto Abajo y hasta Playa la Salina, y por supuesto nuestro imponente cerro Guayamuri a lo lejos. Mientras caminaba recordaba la cantidad de veces que junto a mís primos y amigos subimos y bajamos este cerro, y me reproché que viviendo tan cerca haya sido la primera vez de mis hijos que estaban más que maravillados con la experiencia, mirando a todos lados disfrutando de la brisa y de los deliciosos **pitigueyes** que encontraban por el camino.
From the top we could enjoy a simply wonderful view, we could see all of Parguito, Puerto Abajo and even Playa la Salina, and of course our imposing Guayamuri hill in the distance. While I was walking I remembered how many times with my cousins and friends we climbed and descended this hill, and I reproached myself that living so close it was the first time for my children who were more than amazed with the experience, looking everywhere enjoying the breeze and the delicious **pitigueyes** they found along the way.        Después de unas dos horas de subir y bajar, caminar de un lado al otro y con un montón de fotos increíbles finalmente llegamos a la bahía de Puertp Abajo, pero para ese entonces aunque era pleno medio día el cielo estaba bastante nublado y la brisa muy fría, una combinación nada buena para Miranda por el tema de su asma, así que decidimos dejar la playa para cuando el clima lo permita. Ya desde ahí nos fuimos por la carretera, y tomando un atajo en menos de 5 minutos estábamos en Playa Pargüito, porque sí amigos, estas playitas están una al lado de la otra y llegas en poquito tiempo si tomas la carretera, pero qué sentido tiene hacerlo así si por el cerro vives una experiencia tan mágica. Si vives en Margarita y no has disfrutado de esta pequeña excursión tienes que hacerlo, si vienes de vacaciones tienes que hacerlo, y para tí que estás lejos pero un día sueñas con estar aquí, recuerda que los sueños se hacen realidad.
After about two hours of going up and down, walking from one side to the other and with a lot of incredible pictures we finally arrived at the bay of Puertp Abajo, but by that time although it was midday the sky was quite cloudy and the breeze was very cold, not a good combination for Miranda because of her asthma, so we decided to leave the beach for when the weather permits. From there we took the road, and taking a shortcut in less than 5 minutes we were at Playa Pargüito, because yes friends, these beaches are next to each other and you get there in a short time if you take the road, but what's the point of doing it that way if you live such a magical experience through the hill.
