No les huele a navidad? 🎄🎅 [Esp/Eng]

Quizá para muchos sea muy pronto, pero gente, **yo amo la navidad** y desde hace rato me estaban picando las manos por ponerme a decorar, y hace unos dije **¿por qué no?**, vamos a llenarnos de alegría navideña que bastante nos hace falta con tantas cosas pasando alrededor, y aunque quizá los ánimos no son los mejores, hay que ponerle onda a la vida, así que por aquí les muestro lo que ya tengo adelantado porque voy por partes, a riesgo de quedarme sin decoraciones para el árbol de navidad. >Maybe for many it's too early, but guys, **I love Christmas** and I've been itching to start decorating for a while now, and a few days ago I said **why not?** Let's fill ourselves with Christmas cheer, which we really need with so much going on around us. and even though spirits may not be at their highest, we have to bring some fun into our lives, so here I'll show you what I've already done because I'm taking it step by step, at the risk of running out of decorations for the Christmas tree.  Este año, a diferencia del año pasado, no me tuve que debatir entre qué tipo de decoración utilizaría ya que mis hijos fueron súper claros en que para ellos la navidad estilo nórdico no parecía navidad, aunque sinceramente yo quedé enamorada, pero como en esta casa la democracia se impone, este año les tocó escoger, así que nos fuimos por los tradicionales rojo y blanco con algunos toques de verde. No sé si recuerden, pero el año pasado y el antepasado enloqueci un poco con las manualidades navideñas, así que entre todo lo que hice y los adornos que solía usar antes tengo muchísimas cositas para decorar, ya que no estaría limitada como el año pasado que usé blanco y gris y me tocó hacer todo prácticamente, ya que jamás había usado esos colores porque todas mis decoraciones eran en los colores tradicionales.

This year, unlike last year, I didn't have to debate what kind of decorations to use because my children were very clear that, for them, Nordic-style Christmas didn't feel like Christmas, even though I honestly fell in love with it. But since democracy reigns in this house, this year it was their turn to choose, so we went with the traditional red and white with some touches of green. I don't know if you remember, but last year and the year before, I went a little crazy with Christmas crafts, so between everything I made and the decorations I used to use, I have lots of little things to decorate with. This means I won't be limited like last year when I used white and gray and had to make practically everything from scratch, since I had never used those colors before because all my decorations were in traditional colors.

Definidos los colores y el estilo a seguir decidí por dónde comenzaría, y el lugar escogido fue la cocina, y para esto, una vez más recurrí a mi mejor amigo **Pinterest** y me busqué algunas ideas, y entre tantas me encontré con algo que hace mucho quería hacer y era poner guirnaldas sobre los gabinetes, por supuesto con sus luces, y aunque en un principio pensaba dejarlas así, me pareció que una guirnalda de bolitas rojas y blancas quedaría perfecta, y definitivamente fue una excelente decisión, porque me encantó cómo se veía. El siguiente paso era poner detallitos en diferentes zonas de la cocina para que todo gritara **"navidad"**, así que saqué algunas cositas que ya tenía en los tonos con los que estaba trabajando, y otras de las que usé el año pasado como las casitas de la villa navideña que de verdad me encantaron. Así que guardé algunas cosas de uso diario y en su lugar coloqué las de navidad, como tazas, tazones, uno de los mini arbolitos del año pasado, casitas, un arbolito dorado y un santa estilo vintage (creo) que me encanta.

Once I had decided on the colors and style, I decided where to start, and the place I chose was the kitchen. To do this, I once again turned to my best friend, **Pinterest**, and looked for some ideas. Among the many I found, I came across something I had wanted to do for a long time, which was to put garlands on the cabinets, with lights, of course. Although at first I thought I would leave them like that, I thought a garland of red and white balls would look perfect, and it was definitely an excellent decision because I loved how it looked. The next step was to add little details in different areas of the kitchen so that everything screamed **"Christmas"**. So, I took out some things I already had in the colors I was working with, and others I used last year, like the little Christmas village houses that I really loved. So I put away some everyday items and replaced them with Christmas ones, such as cups, bowls, one of last year's mini trees, little houses, a gold tree, and a vintage-style Santa (I think) that I love.

   En ese momento pensé que todo estaba listo, pero mientras más lo veía más sentía que faltaba algo y decidí usar las decoraciones que había hecho el año pasado para las puertas de los gabinetes, pero con una pequeñita modificación que fue cambiar el lazo que tenían y colocar uno rojo a las puertas que quedaban en el centro, y las de los lados las dejé tal cual estaban porque me parece se ve muy lindo el contraste, y en cuanto hice los cambios las puse en su lugar y ahí sí estuve conforme con la forma que tomó la cocina. Todavía me faltan algunos detalles como las guirnaldas de las ventana que son súper sencillas, parecidas a las del año pasado, y algunos detalles para cambiar los imanes de la nevera, cosa que nunca he hecho, pero este año me pareció buena idea. Así que aún faltan detallitos que confieso me antojé de ellos a última hora.

At that point, I thought everything was ready, but the more I looked at it, the more I felt that something was missing. I decided to use the decorations I had made last year for the cabinet doors, but with a small modification: I changed the bow they had and put a red one on the doors in the center. I left the ones on the sides as they were because I think the contrast looks very nice. As soon as I made the changes, I put them in place, and then I was happy with how the kitchen looked. I still have a few details left to do, like the window garlands, which are super simple, similar to last year's, and a few details to change the magnets on the refrigerator, which I've never done before, but this year I thought it was a good idea. So there are still a few little details left that I confess I decided on at the last minute.

  Siguiendo con las decoraciones, cuando pensé que la cocina estaba lista, que les acabo de decir que ahora no lo está 🤣🤣🤣, seguí con mi comedor que es súper mini, pero tengo dos repisas que siempre decoro y por supuesto el centro de mesa, así que nuevamente busqué un montón de ideas, escogí las que me gustaron, y les di mi toque usando lo que tenía en casa y la verdad estoy súper enamorada de cómo quedaron las dos. A la principal, que es la que se ve apenas entras a la casa decidí ponerle luces por detrás, así que la desocupé, la limpié muy bien con un pañito humedecido con pride, y luego por la parte de atrás con silicón pegué las luces, luego la coloqué en su lugar y fui poniendo y quitando cosas hasta que quedó como yo quería, y como ven usé varias cositas del año pasado como una casita, un gnomo, y unas estrellitas en una base de madera parecidas a las que hice en color gris. Además agregué arriba algunos de mis cactus y en el peldaño de abajo dos más. Luego un viejito pascuero justo al ladito de la repisa y listo. Por cierto, que hasta ahora no he tenido que comprar absolutamente nada.

I decided to put lights behind the main one, which is the one you see as soon as you enter the house, so I took it down, cleaned it thoroughly with a cloth dampened with Pride, and then I glued the lights to the back with silicone. I put it back in its place and kept adding and removing things until it was just how I wanted it. As you can see, I used several things from last year, such as a little house, a gnome, and some little stars on a wooden base similar to the ones I made in gray. I also added some of my cacti on top and two more on the bottom step. Then I placed Santa Claus right next to the shelf, and that was it. By the way, I haven't had to buy anything at all so far.

    La otra repisa es más pequeña, y debo decir que de las dos es mi favorita. En uno de los peldaños puse dos casitas, un gnomo, un florero con ramitas de eucalipto y unas piñitas, y el toque rojo lo di con estambre en los envases con plantitas y listo. Ahora para el segundo peldaño usé un santa vintage con las piernitas colgando, un porta retrato con la palabra **joy**, que hice el año pasado, otro gnomo y una cajita con tapa con la carita de santa. Para la parte de abajo donde tenía antes unas pinturas que hizo mi niña @elmundodemiri, colgué un muñeco de nieve y otro santa del mismo estilo que estoy usando, y les coloqué un marco de madera, y listo, quedó súper linda. Y con respecto al centro de mesa, decidí usar la bandeja que hice hace un tiempo, agregar un muñeco de nieve, una vela con un toque de rojo en estambre, una piñita y otros detallitos en rojo y blanco y listo, así que de momento tengo estas dos áreas listas y estoy trabajando ya en la sala para finalmente armar el árbol si me quedan adornos 🤣🤣🤣 ¿Ustedes, ya comenzaron a decorar, o no son tan dementes como yo?

The other shelf is smaller, and I must say that of the two, it's my favorite. On one of the steps, I placed two little houses, a gnome, a vase with eucalyptus twigs and some pinecones, and I added a touch of red with yarn on the pots with little plants, and that was it. Now, for the second step, I used a vintage Santa with his legs hanging down, a picture frame with the word "joy" that I made last year, another gnome, and a little box with a lid with Santa's face on it. For the bottom part, where I used to have some paintings my daughter @elmundodemiri made, I hung a snowman and another Santa Claus in the same style I'm using, and I put a wooden frame around them, and that was it. It turned out really cute. As for the centerpiece, I decided to use the tray I made a while ago, add a snowman, a candle with a touch of red yarn, a pinecone, and other little details in red and white, and that's it. So, for now, I have these two areas ready, and I'm already working on the living room to finally put up the tree if I have any decorations left 🤣🤣🤣 Have you guys started decorating yet, or are you not as crazy as me?
