"For no particular reason..." #26 - Good things to do when you don't know what to do.

Let's face it... sometimes life just gets in the way. When we have clear goals and well designed plans, the path is obvious and we just have to push forward.

We know all the mantras: - One day after another. - 1% better each day. - No pain, no gain. - Eyes on the prize.

The problem is when there's no clear plan because goals are still to be decided. Or when too many factors are not depending on ourselves and we have to wait for some issues to unfold before we can decide what to do next. For people used to plan and act accordingly, this can be a complicated situation. I actually feel lost when something like that happens to me. There are some strategies off course, and may even end up being good experiences. Engage in reading marathons because books kept pilling up waiting to be read, can be a good idea because one feels fulfilled while learning or relaxing. Travelling to a nice place helps you think in different things while you wait for new information. A roadtrip to visit relatives that you don't meet often is a different and hopefully nice experience also. Some options are cheap, some are not. Some you can get done in a normal life with work, kids, etc., others require much more free time.

You do you...

My take is, whatever you do:

  • Do something that improves you mentally.
  • Do something that improves you physically.
  • Do something that makes you money.

If you don't know what to do, or why, or what for, just make sure to spend time doing things from which you'll benefit later. It may be resting time, reflexion time, it looks everything is suspended but it won't be wasted time.

Whatever comes out of your waiting process, will find a more intelligent, stronger and more resourceful version of YOU.
