Hello, Hive Open Mic friends! It is an honor and a joy to participate once again in this musical event full of exceptional musicians and singers. This week's theme is The Darkness, a rather profound topic in my opinion.
When we think of the term Darkness, the first thing that comes to mind is the absence of light, a place of gloom, and it is normal for us to feel a certain fear since we humans flee from what we do not know because we associate it with uncertainty and even danger. In reality, its meaning goes beyond the physical; it also has a mental connotation, as I believe we all have a dark side, a part that not everyone knows about, and that only we know how to handle. This does not necessarily make us bad people, because as civilized and rational beings we are capable of maintaining a balance in our thoughts and actions.
Today I present an acoustic cover of the song Everybody's Fool by the American alternative metal band Evanescence, from the album Fallen, released in 2003. This song tells us how a person deals with two versions of herself, one that appears to have a perfect life and a successful job in front of others, yet while she is in her real world and in solitude, she lives in complete darkness, in a deep depression, in a void that has nothing to do with what the world imagines her to be. Perhaps many of us have been through similar situations, although at different levels and in different contexts, and I think that in a way this is part of life, because only we know what our internal situation is like, while we try to lead a normal life in the eyes of others. I hope you like my presentation.
¡Hola, amigos de Hive Open Mic! Es un honor y una alegría participar una vez más en este evento musical lleno de músicos y cantantes excepcionales. La temática en esta semana es La Oscuridad, un tópico bastante profundo a mi parecer.
Cuando pensamos en el termino Oscuridad lo primero que se viene a la mente es la falta de luz, un lugar de tinieblas y sombrío, y es normal que sintamos cierto temor ya que los seres humanos le huimos a aquello de desconocemos porque lo relacionamos con incertidumbre e incluso con peligro. En realidad, su significado va más allá de lo físico, también tiene una connotación mental ya que considero que todos tenemos un lado oscuro, una parte que no todos conocen, y que solo nosotros sabemos manejar. Esto no nos hace necesariamente malas personas, porque como seres civilizados y racionales somos capaces de mantener un equilibrio en nuestros pensamientos y acciones.
El día de hoy les presento un cover acústico de la canción Everybody’s Fool de la banda de metal alternativo estadounidense Evanescence, perteneciente al álbum Fallen, publicado en el año 2003. Esta canción nos habla de cómo una persona lidia con dos versiones de si misma, una que delante de los demás parece tener una vida perfecta, un trabajo exitoso, sin embargo, mientras ella está en su mundo real y en soledad vive en completa oscuridad, en una gran depresión, en un vacío que no tiene nada que ver con lo que el mundo se imagina de ella. Quizás muchos hemos pasado por situaciones parecidas a esta, aunque en diferentes niveles y contextos, y creo que de cierta forma eso hace parte de la vida, pues solo nosotros sabemos cómo es nuestra situación interna, a la vez que intentamos llevar una vida normal a los ojos de los demás.
