Hello, friends of The Anime Realm! As always, I’m delighted to share with you a review of an anime, in this case one that may not be very popular since it deals with a very specific theme, but one that I personally liked a lot. I’m referring to Super Cub, a story centered on motorcycling, school, and everyday life.
This work is based on a light novel written by Tone Kōken and illustrated by Hiro, and is set in a small town on the outskirts of Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. The story tells us about the life of Koguma, a high school student with a very lonely and boring life since she lost her parents at an early age and, at first, doesn't have many personal interests. Luckily, she studies and eats thanks to a scholarship she receives from the government.

Como siempre estoy encantada de compartir con ustedes una reseña sobre un anime, en este caso uno que quizás no sea muy popular ya que trata de una temática muy específica, pero que a mí en lo personal me gustó mucho, me refiero a Super Cub, una historia centrada en el motociclismo, la escuela y la vida diaria.
Les comento que esta obra está basada en una novela ligera escrita por Tone Kōken e ilustrada por Hiro, y está ambientada en un pequeño poblado en las afueras de la Prefectura de Yamanashi, Japón. La historia nos cuenta la vida de Koguma, una estudiante de escuela secundaria con una vida muy solitaria y aburrida ya que perdió a sus padres a temprana edad y en principio no cuenta con muchos intereses personales, por suerte estudia y se alimenta gracias a una beca que recibe de parte del gobierno.
One good day, tired of riding her bike uphill to school every day, which seemed like hard work, Koguma came across a second-hand green Honda Super Cub motorcycle with little use that was at a knockdown price at a local dealership. Although she spent her entire budget on this investment, the decision would change her life completely, giving her the meaning she so desperately needed and a deep sense of freedom. Once the shy Koguma has her Super Cub, it gives her a new outlook on her boring existence. Now she feels freer when she feels the wind on her face while riding her motorcycle, she is more independent, she can go beyond her repetitive daily environment, and most importantly, her self-esteem improves day by day.
It is worth noting that the light novel is inspired by the commemoration of 100 million units sold of the Honda Super Cub throughout its history. This fact really catches my attention, and I think celebrating this great achievement with a narrative that appeals to nostalgia around this globally recognized and appreciated motorcycle model is genius.
Un buen día, cansada de ir colina arriba a diario hacia su escuela en su bicicleta, lo cual parecía un trabajo arduo, Koguma tiene un encuentro con una moto Honda Super Cub verde de segunda mano con poco uso que estaban rematando en un concesionario de la localidad, y a pesar de que gastó todo su presupuesto en esa inversión la decisión cambiaría su vida por completo, dándole el sentido que tanto necesitaba y una profunda sensación de libertad. Una vez que la tímida Koguma tiene su Super Cub esto le da una nueva visión a su aburrida existencia, ahora es más libre cuando siente el aire en la cara mientras maneja su moto, es más independiente, puede ir más allá de su repetitivo entorno diario, y lo más importante, su autoestima va mejorando día tras día.
Cabe resaltar que la novela ligera está inspirada en la conmemoración de los 100 millones de unidades vendidas de la Honda Super Cub a lo largo de su historia. Este hecho me llama mucho la atención, y es que celebrar esta gran hazaña con una narrativa que apela a la nostalgia en torno a este modelo de motos tan reconocido y apreciado a nivel mundial me perece una genialidad.
In addition to a new experience, the motorcycle gives the protagonist the opportunity to improve her financial situation by delivering documents from her school to other schools in the area, for which she receives fair payment. I must admit that at first, I felt very sorry for this girl because of her bad luck in life and her simple, uneventful destiny.
One aspect that also changed for the better once the protagonist got her Super Cub was the fact that she now has new friends, two girls from her school, one who already had a different model of Honda motorcycle and another who still rides a bicycle but longs to have her own motorcycle and is fighting for it. The truth is that I liked how they approached the plot from the point of view of nostalgia, of a lonely person who had no great motivations and whose life has now changed for the better thanks to a motorcycle, as joy finally comes to her door, offering her a better present and a promising future.

Además de una nueva experiencia, la moto le da a la protagonista la oportunidad de mejorar económicamente haciendo entregas de documentos desde su escuela a otras escuelas de la zona por lo que recibe un pago justo. Debo admitir que al principio esta chica me daba mucha lástima por su mala suerte en la vida y su destino tan simple y falto de todo tipo de emoción.
Un aspecto que también cambió para mejor una vez que la protagonista obtuvo su Super Cub fue el hecho de que ahora tiene nuevas amistades, dos chicas de su escuela, una que ya tenía una moto honda de modelo diferente y otra que aun anda en bicicleta pero que ansía tener su propia moto y lucha por ello. La verdad es que me gustó cómo abordaron la trama desde el punto de vista de la nostalgia, de alguien solitario que no tenía grandes motivaciones y que ahora gracias a una moto su vida cambió para bien, ya que una alegría llega finalmente a su puerta, ofreciéndole un mejor presente y un prometedor futuro.
