Today was my kids first day at school. Both of my sons were very happy, and they each had their own reasons for it. I will talk about those reasons in detail later, but first, let me explain the whole story behind their admission and school selection.
From choosing the right school to finally getting them admitted, there were a lot of discussions and arguments at home. Time passed so quickly that today I actually took them to school, and honestly, it turned out to be a memorable day.
About four months ago, when my elder son turned five, I started thinking about his admission. I began collecting information about nearby schools. Some people praised some school, others criticized by saying there is no proper teaching here, there is this problem and so on. I got really confused. I was almost convinced to get him admitted to a government school. But when I discussed it with my family, everyone was against it. They said things like there is no proper education, teachers are often absent, etc.
This school topic became a daily discussion at home, but there was no solution. Finally, during the first week of July, I made up my mind. After talking to my parents, I got both of my kids admitted to the nearest school and it all happened suddenly. I took a day off from work, and early in the morning, I took the kids along with my parents and got the admission done. Now, whatever the situation, whether the education is good or not, I have decided that they will study there.
After that, we started preparing their school stuff tiffin boxes, water bottles, uniforms, school bags, and shoes. We bought everything. The school gave us their syllabus, and even the stationery will be provided by the school, so we didn’t need to buy that. When I said earlier that my kids were happy, these new things were the reason. They were excited and wanted to go to school. Only the tie was missing, as it was out of stock at the shop, but we will get it in a few days. Other than that, everything was complete, and the kids were really happy seeing it all.
Then came this morning, we woke up early and went to the school. The teachers welcomed us warmly. But here comes the twist my elder son calmly went to his class, but the younger one started crying loudly. He hugged me tightly and kept crying, saying Papa Papa. In the end, the teacher had to take him by the hand into the class, but we could still hear him crying from outside.
He is very young, only 3.5 years old. But my mother insisted on getting him admitted too because she thinks he has a sharp mind and its better he starts learning early. He will take some time to adjust. Today I picked him up at 11 AM. He hugged me again and said Papa I don’t want to go to school. I explained to him that he has to learn, we will drop him in the morning and bring him back home in the afternoon. I told him he will make new friends, learn ABC and 123, and also get to play. He understood a little. Lets see what happens tomorrow morning.
After coming back, both of them even did their homework in the evening. It was a good day overall. And just now, the whole family came to wish me because its my birthday today, 5th August. Anyway, thats all for now. More life stories in my next post.
