Today, 5th August, was my birthday. The celebrations started last night at 12 AM with everyone wishing me a happy birthday loudly at home. Then, I received calls from my elder brothers families who also wished me. These wishes make you feel special and remind you how lucky you are to have a family that stands by you in every happy and sad moment.
Today was also my kids second day at school. I dropped them off in the morning. My younger son cried again, but later he settled down. After that, I went to the office. It was a boring day with not much work to do, felt like I was in sleeping mode the whole time. In the evening, I came back home and thats when the real birthday fun began.
My father baked a nice cake, and my sister-in-law decorated it beautifully. The cake looked great and tasted even better. My Mother said they had not cooked dinner, so I should order something I like. As always, we spent about an hour deciding what to order. Finally, we settled on pizza, and for my Mother (since she doesn’t eat pizza), we ordered BBQ.
We ordered from a place called Pizza Max. I love stuffed crust pizzas, this one had kabab stuffed crust. One pizza was creamy supreme and the other was beef max supreme. Both were really delicious. The BBQ for my mother was also very tasty, though it got a bit cold.
Then came the cake-cutting. I cut the cake with lots of noise and fun around. It was a really enjoyable moment.
Even though today was a special day, we usually eat dinner together as a family and I believe this is very important. Many people dont think it matters much, but for me, it really does. I always prefer to have daily meals together with the family. It strengthens the bond, we chat during meals, and share things. We can't eat breakfast together on weekdays, only on Sundays. I am at the office during lunch, but I always make sure we have dinner together. So far, we have managed to keep this up. During dinner, I share my day with the family, and now I am teaching my kids the same. I want to pass on this tradition to them, the one my parents taught me.
I truly believe that eating together increases love. Maybe it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it gives me happiness.
