Last Tuesday, I made a trip to Tanjung Malim for a site visit at a customer’s new office. The customer wanted to expand their business and has chosen Tanjung Malim as one of their new branch location.
The appointment was set for 10:30 AM, but I planned to head out early, with the aim to arrive in Tanjung Malim by 9:30 AM or even earlier. The drive from my house to Tanjung Malim typically takes about an hour and a half, so I left home at 7:30 AM to give myself enough buffer time.
Before hitting the highway, I made a quick stop at a nearby petrol station to fill up my scooter's fuel tank. Once that was sorted, I resumed my journey. Thankfully, the weather was bright and pleasant. I was afraid it would be raining since it is the rainy season now. With no rain, the ride is even more enjoyable.
I arrived in Tanjung Malim exactly at 9:10 AM. I planned this early arrival with one thing in mind: to get breakfast at the famous Yik Mun restaurant. For the bikers community, Yik Mun is well-known as one of the bikers' pit stops and also for their hot, freshly steamed pao. The last time I visited the place was ten years ago.
To my surprise, Yik Mun hadn’t changed much at all. The decoration and ambience looked just as I remembered. It is indeed a nostalgic throwback.
For breakfast, I ordered two pao and a set of salted egg dim sum. For the pao, I chose one with chicken curry filling and the other with beef curry. The beef pao turned out to be delicious. But, I was slightly disappointed with the chicken curry pao, which didn’t quite match the taste of the beef one.
After getting my breakfast, I continue my journey to the customer's place that is only 10 minutes away from Yik Mun
