Empowering Little Miracles ( Therapy Sessions)

Hi Hivers, @rrusiana33 here excited to share another story about our therapy session every week. For some, it's just a usual day but for us it is somewhat a day full of hope and courage. Our schedule for my son's therapy (Mehir) is every Monday and Wednesday. It is twice a week of Physical, Occupational and Speech Language Therapy for my kid. Yes, Mehir needs those kind of therapy and for sure will help him to act like a normal kids do. By the way, to those who don't read my first story, I have a child who needs special treatment, care and attention. He is a cerebral palsy warrior. Some part of his brain is damaged due to lack of oxygen during birth.    Fast forward, every therapy day my partner and I bring Mehir to Kauswagan Community Clinic and Social Center located in Cabangahan, Consolacion, Cebu. It's a private clinic in partnership with Cebu Doctors interns (doctors and therapists) but offer their services for free. The center is 6 km away from home but good thing we have motorcycle to use for easy transportation. We leave the house at 12:30 for our appointment is at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. The ride is at least 15 to 20 minutes so we still have time to relax for a while before it starts. I forget to mention that every therapy is about 30 minutes and since Mehir has 3 kinds of therapy he consumes 1 hr and 30 minutes. In this part, you can hear Mehir's shouts and screams. Yes, he cries everytime someone else touches him. He is so sensitive. From the start until the end, he cries but good thing even he is like that he still performs what is needed with the guidance of the assigned therapist. By the way, we call the therapists as teachers. Different forms of reflexes they do to practice him and to strengthen his neck muscles and spinal cord. I am very happy even though he acts violently but able to strive harder to be better. It's a combination of singing to entertain him and doing physical exercise to prevent him from being so spastic. There are moments when we ask Mehir to kiss the teacher and he does. I think even in his condition, he is intelligent because he understands. Everytime we ask him to do something even without teaching him, he knows and we are amazed by his actions. He understands too if we are about to end the session cause he stops crying. He also smiles to his teacher and say "mana" - means finish and "sowe"- means sorry. I teach him how to say sorry for he keep on crying during the session. Right after the session, we go home and give Mehir some rest he deserves and a bottle of milk to comfort him. For 4 months, I can see improvements in over all aspects of my kid. Rooting for more. I know someday everything will be all right for Mehir. We never lose hope and we will grab every little chances that we have. We keep on praying for his condition. Please pray for us too.
